p.1

The provision is good

The childminder provides a warm and nurturing environment. She takes time to get to know children well, and seeks information about their favourite toys, likes and dislikes. She uses this information effectively to provide routines and activities that reflect on children's needs and interests. Children show they feel safe and secure. They separate from their parents with ease and confidently make independent choices in their play. For example, they show good coordination skills and build towers with the childminder. They practise using different tools, such as tweezers, to transport objects. This helps to build on the small muscles in their hands and fingers in preparation for early writing.

p.2

The provision is good

The childminder places a strong focus on supporting children's personal, social and emotional development. She offers a variety of opportunities for children to explore their local community, such as visits to toddler groups and soft play sessions. This helps to build on their confidence to form relationships with others in a diverse range of social situations. The childminder has high expectations for children's behaviour. She gives children gentle reminders not to throw toys on the floor and explains why. This supports them to develop an understanding of how to keep themselves and others safe.

need to do better?

n Partnerships with parents are strong. The childminder keeps them well informed of their children's progress. She shares regular updates with them when they arrive each day and through digital media. The childminder gives parents guidance to help them support their children at home, such as on eating well. This helps to support children's well-being and continual development. Parents speak highly of the childminder and are happy with the care and learning she provides. n The childminder has taken positive steps to develop her curriculum since the last inspection. She regularly assesses children's development and can confidently discuss what they know and can do. However, she does not target her planning precisely enough to ensure she constantly focuses on children's specific next steps in learning. This means, at times, the childminder does not consistently challenge children further as they engage in their play. This slightly hinders their

on-going development. n The childminder supports children's curiosity and problem-solving skills effectively. She gives them time to test out ideas and work things out for themselves, such as how to balance and stack objects. Children demonstrate they are independent thinkers. They find resources, such as bean bags, and delight in knocking their towers back down. n The childminder teaches children early mathematical concepts. For example, she

6 August 2025 encourages them to count as they climb the steps of the slide. She gives children encouragement to complete puzzles independently, and talks to them about shape and size as they engage in their play. n The childminder supports children's health and well-being effectively. For instance, she talks to them about healthy food as they make meals during their pretend play. Children enjoy spending time outside. They learn to use ride on toys with confidence, which helps to support their core strength and leg muscles. n The childminder is calm and nurturing, and a good role model. She supports children to respect the environment and how to care for the toys. Children are well behaved and listen to the childminder's instructions, such as when it is time to tidy up. The childminder praises children for their achievements, which boosts their confidence and self-esteem. n The childminder places a high priority on children's safety. She completes written

records of children's accidents and any first aid she administers. She teaches children road safety, and encourages them to take safe risks when using apparatus at the park for example. n The childminder reflects on her provision. She attends webinars, on-line training and shares good practice with other childminders. However, she does not focus her professional development precisely enough to ensure it is closely matched to the specific needs of the children. This reduces the impact of training on improving her practice and outcomes for children.
