Inspection of Ballers Sports Coaching LTD Ballers Sports Coaching LTD, Sydenham School, Dartmouth Road, London SE26 4RD

p.1

This provision meets requirements

Staff welcome children and their families into this warm and organised club. Once greeted and signed in, staff embed a no phone policy to ensure that there is a focus on children's physical activity. Children thoroughly enjoy going to the club and speak highly of the staff team, describing them as 'motivating' and 'fun'. When children arrive, they start using a wide range of sport equipment straight away. They show great enthusiasm to trial out the different games and activities. Staff actively join in with all of the activities and games, encouraging children's competitiveness, fun and participation.

p.2

This provision meets requirements

Children behave well and strongly listen to enthusiastic staff, who talk them through the timetable and expectations of the day. Children understand how to stay safe and explain certain rules. For example, when asked about bullying and unwanted behaviour, even the youngest children could voice the expectations and an understanding of what is right and wrong. Children respect the boundaries set. For instance, they actively talk about places they are not allowed, which are clearly marked with red cones. Staff then separate children into groups depending on their age range.

This provision meets requirements

Children learn well about the fun and benefits of an active lifestyle. If some children need a little extra support to manage their emotions and play cooperatively, staff offer this. They offer ways with patience, kindness and good humour. In turn, children feel safe and this positive atmosphere adds to the happy environment. Children learn, develop and conquer a range of different physical abilities and talents. Staff teach children the core values of good sportsmanship and teamwork. The club's ethos is to invest in the youth. Staff's confident role modelling and consistency means that children are constantly developing their skills, as well as socialising and having fun.

need to do better?

n Leaders are passionate about creating a positive environment for children to explore a range of different physical skills and abilities, alongside being part of the community and learning social skills. They are ambitious about the future of the club and finding ways of improvement. n Leaders take pride in staff's knowledge of the sport and experiences to ensure that they are deployed effectively. They think carefully about the schedule of the camp, for instance bringing in a different staff team with different skills to teach children new and exciting skills. For example, at the start of the camp, there is a focus on core gross motor skills, leading to football, basketball, badminton and tennis. Later, staff focus on gymnastics, dance and much more.

p.2

need to do better?

30 July 2025 n Staff understand that children will get the most from the club if they feel involved and listened to. Staff build relationships with children and skilfully find ways to ensure they are listened to and participating. Staff stay alongside children until they have built confidence to do things independently. Children show their independence and confidence building in a short period of time. For example, some children who relied on adult intervention at the start of the activities, move on quickly through positive praise from staff, to independently achieving a variety of activities. n Children know that it is important to stay hydrated. Staff support children to understand the importance of regularly taking breaks and drinking water, especially when playing energetically. They remind children when to slow down and this, in turn, helps children to regulate their emotions. n Staff are inclusive of all children. They encourage male and female children to

participate in all sports. Staff organise games to ensure that all children have equal opportunities. Leaders and staff work alongside families to ensure that they know how best to support children, especially those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). For example, leaders deploy staff to support children who may need extra help at times. n Staff understand what they want children to achieve and reflect on how they can extend children's skills further. For example, younger children use mathematical concepts while actively playing. Then with adult support, children use a point system to further develop their numeracy skills in an exciting way. n Leaders work closely with local council to ensure that they develop and find ways to ensure that all children have an opportunity and chance at the club. They offer funded places for families and find ways how they can go above and beyond supporting the families. This ensures that children participate in the

club's wide range of activities. Staff cater for healthy eating choices and ensure that all children have a nutritious balanced lunch and snacks throughout the day. n Parents and carers speak highly of the club, whether it is their children's first week or they have been coming for a long time. All parents praise staff's commitment and talk about how happy their children are to come. Parents speak about the different skills children have learned and how tired they are when they return home. However, some parents would like more information about what exactly their children are doing. Leaders actively respond to this, such as keeping them up to date via a platform, and are consistently seeking ways of improving contact in the future.
