p.1
The provision is good
The childminder has a confident understanding of her role in supporting young children to learn and develop. She provides an effective curriculum. The childminder supports children to develop their early communication skills successfully. When children point and gesture towards toys they would like to play with, the childminder names these toys for them. This helps children to learn and understand new vocabulary.
p.2
The provision is good
Children are very happy and settled in the childminder's care. She is highly attuned to their well-being and makes sure their personal care needs are met at all times. This helps children to feel comfortable, safe and well cared for in the childminder's home.
p.2
The provision is good
The childminder demonstrates a thorough knowledge of child development. She understands the skills that children use as babies and how these will develop as they get older. The childminder provides sequenced learning that helps children to build on what they already know. In addition, this supports children to begin to get ready for the next stage in their education.
p.2
The provision is good
The childminder and co-childminder are very positive role models for children's behaviour. They demonstrate kind and considered interactions with each other. The childminder sets high expectations for children to share and play harmoniously with their friends.
p.2
need to do better?
n The childminder plans learning activities that are focused on children's next steps in their development. For example, for children learning to walk, she provides low, table-based games and toys. These encourage children to stand and hold on to the table to strengthen the muscles in their legs in preparation for walking. As a result, children benefit from the learning opportunities provided to practise the skills they need for their ongoing development. n The home environment in which children are cared for, is extremely clean and free from any hazards or risks to children. The childminder works with the co- childminder effectively to identify anything within her home that may present a hazard. She checks that toys do not have sharp edges that may harm children and removes any toys that may cause accidents or injuries for very young children. The childminder's risk assessment processes are rigorous and effective.
p.2
need to do better?
n The childminder encourages children to develop positive attitudes to learning. She uses her expert knowledge of children's interests to plan activities that are aimed at increasing children's attention span. In order to extend children's focus, she adapts activities promptly to bring in different toys. This helps children's

22 July 2025 attention as they play at chosen activities for longer periods and learn to concentrate more deeply. n The childminder regularly updates her own professional development skills. She accesses local and national training through online groups and membership of networks. Through these connections, she is able to keep up to date with any changes to statutory requirements. The childminder considers any new ideas to amend her practice but does not yet link these to how she can improve the quality of her teaching. She does, however, continue to reflect on her knowledge and understands the need to refresh her training in safeguarding at regular intervals. n The childminder's vision for her setting includes a focus on the outdoors and nature. This is supported by regular visits to National Trust houses, parks and walks in the local community. This helps children to learn about the village where they live and its vicinity. While this provides a wealth of vibrant learning

experiences, children have less opportunities to learn about children from different backgrounds and families other than their own. n Parents are highly positive about the service the childminder provides. They recognise how well cared for their children are and the progress they are making. The childminder shares learning with parents on a daily basis and provides social media updates on trips and days out. Parents are kept well informed about their children's care and education.
