p.1
The provision is good
Children thoroughly enjoy the time they spend with the caring and nurturing childminder. Children are confident to explore their environment, and show they feel safe and secure in her home. The childminder provides the children with a large variety of interesting resources to choose from. Children also take delight in cuddling up with the childminder to listen to stories being read to them. The childminder encourages children to follow their own ideas and develop their imagination.
p.2
The provision is good
The childminder has very good relationships with parents. She finds out about children's interests, and routines, before they start in her care. She places a strong emphasis on supporting children's emotional well-being. She offers them reassuring words and cuddles when needed. This helps children to settle and build strong bonds with the childminder.
p.2
The provision is good
The childminder is consistent and calm, and supports children to share, take turns and consider the needs of others. As a result, children display good behaviour. They play alongside each other and begin to build meaningful relationships, as they 'cook' in the play kitchen. The childminder praises them and supports their interactions to encourage children to respond. For example, when children make 'toast' the childminder asks if they will 'spread butter' on the toast.

n The childminder promotes children's language and communication throughout the day. She provides children with a consistent narrative for their play. When children show her what they are doing, she responds by engaging them in early conversations. For example, when children play with the toy crocodile, the childminder reminds them to 'give him a drink', as it is a hot day. This helps children to become confident communicators from a young age. n The childminder promotes children's physical skills. Children are busy throughout the day. They insert small pegs into boards to practise naming colours. They access a well-resourced garden and develop large-physical skills. Children build confidence when learning how to climb down steps to the lower level of the garden. They run, ride scooters and play together on the see-saw. Children climb up the steps to the slide and slide down. This supports children to develop

small- and large-muscle groups. n Children have access to a wide range of resources and independently make choices about what to play with. They are confident to move between activities and toys. However, children are not encouraged to help to tidy away their toys once they have finished playing with them. Therefore, at times, the childminder puts toys away to keep the floor space clear. So, young children do not always

clearly identify what children need to learn next. The childminder completes all mandatory training. This helps her remain up to date with changes to guidance and procedures. However, she does not access professional development, which would help to enhance her practice to raise the quality of teaching even higher. n The childminder teaches children about similarities and differences in the community. Children play with toys that represent different cultures, genders and disabilities. Children learn about inclusion and how to respect others. This prepares them for life in modern Britain.
