p.1

The provision requires improvement

There is a clear intent for what children will learn. Staff are encouraged to be active in planning what children will learn. As they know children well, it means that the curriculum intent is based on what children are interested in and what they need to learn next. The nursery follows a curriculum approach of encouraging children to learn through open-ended activities and resources. Overall, staff are supportive and promote children's curiosity and sense of exploration. However, staff are not suitably vigilant enough in ensuring that they follow risk assessments. This does not promote children's well-being and their positive attitudes towards learning. The provider does not ensure that required documentation and records are complete and accurate. This does not consistently support children's health and well-being.

p.2

The provision requires improvement

Staff are alert in identifying if children's progress does not meet expectations. Their rapid identification, effective planning and targeted support encourages children's steady progress. Staff develop children's communication and language development well. They identify when children who learn English as an additional language are using few words and ensure that they model language, use clear, short sentences and repeat familiar words. Staff recognise children's small steps in development and enthusiastically celebrate their progress and achievements.

p.2

The provision requires improvement

Children behave well, and staff support them suitably. Children demonstrate that they feel confident and content at the nursery.

p.2

need to do better?

n There are inconsistencies in staff following correct risk assessments and procedures that are in place to help keep children safe. As a result, this led to an incident where a child left their room and was out of sight and hearing of staff for a short period within the nursery. The provider is committed to working with staff to prevent the likelihood of such an incident reoccurring in the future. n The provider does not ensure that staff accurately and reliably record accidents that children have. This means that information about any minor injuries are not consistently recorded and shared among the staff team, particularly during staff shift changes. Consequently. staff do not always have the knowledge to inform parents about accidents and any treatment children have received. This does not fully support their well-being. n Records regarding any complaints the nursery receive are incomplete or inconsistent. This means that there is no accurate record of complaints and the

outcome of any investigations to share with Ofsted as required. n Staff encourage children's enjoyment of books. They read with children, varying the pitch and tone of their voice to sustain children's interest and attention. Children show their fascination in stories as they repeat sounds and point at the

9 July 2025 pictures, and older children repeatedly look through books. n As children get older, staff encourage their emerging writing skills. However, teaching is occasionally imprecise, and children do not have the support they need to build on their early reading and writing skills. Staff do not fully consider children's stage of development and their understanding. This means that sometimes children are confused by the introduction of words that do not look like they sound. n Staff are calm and caring. They offer children comfort and lots of cuddles. Young children show they are fond of their key person as they walk towards them with their arms outstretched and smile at them broadly. Staff give children respectful care. Before carrying out routine activities, such as wiping their hands and face, staff ask children's permission and are gentle and considerate towards their feelings. n The nursery offers children opportunities to explore the wider world and reflect

on what makes them unique and special. However, staff do not always consider how they can challenge views and beliefs that could compromise their inclusive and diverse curriculum. n Children are provided with healthy and balanced meals. Staff ensure children are well hydrated throughout the day. Staff encourage children to be active and enjoy playing outdoors. They test out their developing physical skills and develop in confidence in their abilities. n The nursery environment is warm and welcoming, and activities are generally planned well. However, some areas are tired and in need of repair, particularly outdoors. Some parts of the garden are cluttered and unkempt so not able to be used by children. On occasion, some resources are positioned too high up on the wall meaning children cannot see them. n Parents are positive about the care that their children receive. They indicate that children settle well. The information they receive about their children's progress

should:

n have a clearer intent for what staff expect children to learn as they support children's emerging literacy skills n encourage staff to feel more confident in delivering a curriculum that expands on children's learning of others outside of their own experience n address areas of the nursery where there are broken or damaged pieces of equipment that hinder the good use of outdoor spaces for children's learning.

They looked at relevant documentation, such as evidence of the suitability of staff working in the nursery. n The inspectors spoke with staff and children at suitable times throughout the inspection. n Parents were invited to share their views with the inspectors.
