This provision meets requirements

Staff greet children when they arrive at this friendly and welcoming club. They value children's emotional well-being and continuity of care. For example, staff collect younger children from their classrooms and bring them to the club in the school hall. The routine that is in place helps children to feel safe and secure. Children are keen to discuss their day with staff and settle quickly. Staff act as good role models. They support children in using good manners and being kind to their friends. For example, when children become eager for their turn, staff remind them to slow down and be patient.

This provision meets requirements

Children are confident as they talk to visitors about how much they enjoy attending the club. They comment, 'I see my friends and do my favourite things.' Staff carefully plan a variety of activities that reflect children's interests. For example, sports, arts and crafts, games and puzzles are on offer. Children show their excitement as they play outside. They join a football session with the club's sports coach. Other children who prefer to stay inside enjoy tabletop activities, such as origami. They fold paper and listen to and follow instructions to create paper aeroplanes.

n Leadership and management of the club are strong. There is a robust professional development process in place. Staff attend all necessary training and keep up to date through regular staff meetings. Recruitment procedures are thorough. Leaders regularly monitor staff's practice, well-being and ongoing suitability. n Partnerships with the school are excellent. The club shares the same behavioural strategies used by the school to provide consistency for children. Parents recognise this close partnership and comment that the club is part of the school experience. n Leaders and staff support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) exceptionally well. Staff work together with teachers to see how they can best meet children's needs. For example, they have introduced a 'choice board' with visual clues to reinforce children's understanding. This helps children to choose activities and snacks and express their feelings. It helps to

9 July 2025 care and attention their children receive. They comment on the excellent communication, in particular the online app. This helps parents to readily update information, such as medical details. Leaders also use the app to post newsletters and ensure that parents stay up to date and well informed about their child's time after school. n Staff support children's physical development well. Children have regular access to the outdoors for fresh air and exercise. For example, they practise football skills, such as dribbling balls around cones and scoring goals. They also play cricket and have plenty of space to run and jump. Indoors, children develop their small muscle strength, using scissors to cut tape and drawing with felt-tip pens. n Staff ensure children stay healthy. Children eat a healthy snack of wraps with vegetables and salad sticks. They talk to their friends and staff as they sit at

tables. Staff ensure children understand how to stay safe in the heat and sun. They remind children regularly to have a drink break and help them to understand the importance of keeping their hats on while playing outside. n Younger children enjoy activities that complement their learning at school. For example, they practise their hand-eye coordination as they wrap bands around hooks to lace bracelets. Children choose from a range of colours, which helps to reinforce their colour recognition. In addition, they count the number of bands they need. Staff support children's communication and language and model words such as 'twisted' as they make their creations.
