p.1
The provision requires improvement
Leaders are clear about what they want children to learn and why. However, they face challenges in recruiting staff and this is having an impact on how well the curriculum is being implemented across the setting. The teaching and learning, particularly in the Toddler and Pre-school rooms, are not strong enough to help all children make the best possible progress.
p.2
The provision requires improvement
Staff have a caring attitude and develop strong relationships with children. Children are happy to leave their parents and choose an activity of their interest. Children demonstrate that they feel safe and secure. However, staff are moved too frequently to cover in different rooms, and this does not ensure that the key-person arrangement is fully embedded. Some planned learning activities are not targeted to what children need to learn as staff working in the rooms do not know the children well enough. Nonetheless, most children enjoy the activities on offer and display a positive attitude to learning.
p.2
The provision requires improvement
Leaders are prompt to identify and put in support plans to help children identified as having special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). They work closely with outside agencies and parents to offer tailored support to help meet the needs of these children. Leaders are looking at ways to further train more staff to increase their knowledge on how to support children with SEND. This will help to minimise any disruptions to the quality of care and learning experiences that these children receive should there be any staff changes.
p.2
need to do better?
n Leaders are aware of the challenges facing the nursery and are doing what they can to minimise the impact on children's care and learning. Leaders seek support from other early years professionals to help them address weaker areas of the provision. However, steps taken to bring about and sustain improvements are not robust enough to ensure consistently high-quality teaching and learning. On some occasions, especially during busy and transition times, children are not supported well enough to engage in purposeful learning. Some children wander around while very young children are not adequately supervised. n The curriculum is implemented well in the Baby room. For instance, staff working with babies use their names, encourage them to learn each other's names and narrate what is happening. They introduce single words, encourage children to repeat and plan activities that ignite and sustain children's interest.
p.2
need to do better?
They confidently talk about how children are progressing and what they need to learn next. Babies babble, enjoy splashing water and singing nursery rhymes. However, this strong practice is not consistent across the setting. In the Toddler and Pre-school rooms, the curriculum is not challenging enough to build on what

need to do better?
1 July 2025 children already know. n Leaders and staff monitor children's progress to help them identify what they need to learn next. However, due to staff being moved frequently, it is not always possible for the key person to extend children's learning through the planned activities. On a few occasions, children tend to occupy themselves rather than actively learning. This does not ensure that gaps in children's learning are closed swiftly to help them make consistently good progress. n Leaders use additional funding well to help improve outcomes for children from disadvantaged backgrounds and those with SEND. They are quick to complete the necessary referrals, working alongside parents so children can get the support they need before they move on to school. n Partnerships with parents are effective. Staff keep parents informed about what their children are learning and how they can support that at home. Leaders

inform parents of staff changes and actively seek their views to evaluate what is working well and what needs improving. Parents share positive feedback about the care their children receive at the nursery. They play an active role in their children's education. n Staff have developed positive relationships with children. They praise the children regularly and this helps to boost children's self-esteem. Staff support children to become familiar with the daily routines and encourage them to share and take turns. Staff encourage independence skills. For example, they give children tissues to wipe their faces and encourage regular handwashing, which is consistent throughout the nursery.

should:
n improve staffing arrangements across the setting to help embed the key-person system, and to support children's learning fully n develop further how the curriculum is planned and implemented to give a clear focus on what children need to learn, and to further challenge children's learning, particularly in the Toddler and Pre-school rooms n support staff to manage transition times successfully so children engage in purposeful learning at all times.
