n Children develop good physical skills and have a clear awareness about the importance of a healthy lifestyle. The childminder teaches children the positive impact of exercise on their body and the importance of eating a balanced diet and drinking water. Children take part in mindfulness sessions, allowing them to regulate their breathing and feel calm. This helps children to make healthy choices. n The childminder is skilful in introducing mathematical concepts. For example, counting, numbers, shape and size are included in routine conversations that take place during activities. For example, children are encouraged to count the fruit in the basket as they learn about healthy eating. As a result, children make good progress in their mathematical development. n Children are immersed in a language-rich environment. need to do better?
30 June 2025 n Overall, the childminder supports children to develop their independence. For instance, children put on their own shoes and hats before going into the garden. However, at times, opportunities to build on children's independence are not consistently encouraged. For example, the childminder wipes children's noses rather than encouraging them to have a go themselves. On occasion, this does not help children to develop their independence skills fully. n The childminder provides lots of opportunities for children to learn about British values. For example, children vote for the song they would like to sing during group time. The childminder encourages children to vote for the book they would like to read. This supports children to understand democracy and fairness. n Children delight in their time in the garden. They giggle as they use their imaginative skills and move around the garden, pretending to be butterflies.

They take great care to look after the bugs and put them in a safe place. n The childminder gathers relevant information from parents at starting points. This helps the childminder to understand what children already know and can do. The childminder works closely with parents to support them to extend their children's learning and development at home. She shares information effectively with parents using an online app. Parents comment on the excellent support and advice they receive from the childminder. This promotes a consistent approach to children's learning and development. n The childminder works alongside her assistants and other professionals to reflect on and develop her practice further. They look at what is working well and identify training opportunities to support practice even further. For example,
