p.1

The provision is good

This warm and friendly childminder builds strong relationships with the children she cares for. She thoughtfully considers their individual needs and interests when planning their day to ensure that learning is meaningful and enjoyable. Children make good progress as she supports their next steps alongside what they enjoy doing. Her strong emphasis on communication and language development is evident throughout the setting. The childminder regularly sings with the children in a range of situations, providing frequent opportunities for them to hear, learn and use new vocabulary.

The provision is good

Children behave well in the setting. The childminder sets clear rules and boundaries for children to follow independently. They take great pride in helping to tidy up as they sing together their special song. Children work together to make sure everything is in the right place. The childminder teaches children to be respectful of each other and their toys and the importance of being kind to each other.

p.2

The provision is good

Children are provided with regular opportunities to explore the world around them. They visit local parks, the family allotment, playgroups and the library. These experiences support their physical development, promote healthy habits and broaden children's awareness of their local community. Children have opportunities to participate in activities with larger groups of children, which encourages confidence in their social development.

n The quality of education is good as the childminder has a secure knowledge of child development and how children learn. Her curriculum ensures that all children have access to age-appropriate activities and resources that challenge their skills and extend on what they already know. The childminder seamlessly interlinks the curriculum throughout her interactions and play with children. For example, young children recognise numbers on a clock and continue their mathematical skills as they count their teeth while learning how to brush them properly. n Healthy habits are always promoted with this childminder. She provides a range of nutritious meals and snacks, including vegetables from her own allotment. Young children are taught how to manage their personal hygiene routines, such as blowing their own noses, putting tissues in the bin and washing their hands afterwards. The childminder prioritises developing children's independence with

play, extending their vocabulary, and she role models good conversational skills. However, occasionally, her questions do not extend children's critical thinking or encourage them to think more deeply. n The childminder enjoys continuing her own professional development. She regularly attends training courses, which she then uses in her practice. For example, a recent course has helped her to identify key skills children learn through various activities. She uses these to identify next steps for the children she looks after. She keeps her knowledge up to date by completing extra reading where necessary.
