p.1

The provision is good

The childminder creates a warm and inviting environment. She acts as a good role model, kindly reminding children to use their manners and be considerate to their friends. Children demonstrate a positive attitude towards learning. They are happy, confident and outgoing.

p.2

The provision is good

The childminder delivers a well-planned curriculum that supports children's interests and builds on what they already know and what they need to learn next. She also plans a range of learning experiences outside the home, such as visits to soft-play and craft groups. This helps to develop children's social skills and engage with children from other communities.

p.2

The provision is good

The childminder adapts her teaching effectively to suit the varying ages of the children in her care. For example, children enjoy exploring rice in a large tray. Older children discover picture cards buried under rainbow-coloured rice to help them understand the life cycle of a butterfly. Younger children remain equally engaged, exploring rice with spoons, scoops and pots. They happily transfer the rice between the pots and explore the texture of the rice using their fingers and toes. The childminder ensures that she is sitting with the children to offer support and develop their learning further.

need to do better?

n The childminder undertakes relevant training and professional development opportunities, such as learning to support children's speech and language development. She regularly attends training courses and webinars, and shares good practice with other childminders. n Overall, the childminder supports children's language development effectively. She reads books, encourages conversations during play and sings rhymes. However, when introducing children to new words, the childminder does not consistently repeat them or use them in different contexts. This means children are not fully supported in expanding their growing vocabulary. n Parents speak highly of the childminder. They comment that she creates a 'safe and nurturing' environment where their children 'flourish'. In particular, parents say their children enjoy the activities and the places they visit, such as the farm and the zoo. The childminder works closely with parents and provides them with

regular information about their children's development and progress. This helps to provide continuity of care for children. n Children enjoy plenty of outdoor play. The childminder encourages children to enjoy lots of fresh air and physical development. Older children confidently climb up slides and ride on wheeled toys, moving forwards and backwards. n The childminder teaches children the importance of a healthy lifestyle. She

18 June 2025 encourages them to follow good hygiene routines. For example, they wash their hands before mealtimes. Children independently access their water bottles throughout the day. The childminder also encourages parents to pack a healthy lunch box for their children. n Children are polite and demonstrate good manners. They generally play well together and follow the childminder's instructions. For example, older children collect the sun hats and sun cream ready for outdoor play. However, sometimes, when children become frustrated during play, the childminder does not always encourage them to explore their emotions and recognise the impact of their behaviour on others. n Children show curiosity and perseverance during open-ended activities. For instance, they enjoy mixing different-coloured foams while making pretend ice cream to create new colours. Children choose from a range of equipment as they play in water. They fill cups with water and pour it over wheels, which helps

develop their hand-eye coordination. Younger children spend a long time focusing on completing puzzles and fitting shapes into shape sorters. n The childminder encourages older children to name colours and count as they play. For example, she asks them to find the yellow pot when matching the rice colour to the pot. They also count in different situations, like climbing the steps on the slide. The childminder also uses language such as 'big' and 'small' when discussing the size of a caterpillar.
