p.1
The provision is good
Children feel safe in the childminder's care. The childminder provides reassurance and comfort to the children when needed, building a trusting relationship. The strong bond they share allows the children to settle quickly and play with confidence.
p.2
The provision is good
The childminder supports children to articulate what they know, understand and can do in an age-appropriate way. This allows the children to hold thoughtful conversations with their peers. The introduction of new language is prioritised, and focused questioning means children are introduced to a wide variety of vocabulary. For example, this was particularly evident during a construction and small-world activity, where the children were introduced to unfamiliar shape names as the childminder challenged the children to build more complex structures.
p.2
The provision is good
Children benefit from daily opportunities for fresh air and exercise when visiting local parks, woods and playgroups, supporting them to develop their physical and emotional health.
p.2
The provision is good
Children behave well and show good manners. For example, this was displayed at the park when a child opened the gate for other visitors and took turns with other children. The childminder promotes children's independence as he prompts them to find their hat and shoes and encourages them to dress themselves after changing. He offers praise and encouragement to further support this culture.

need to do better?
n The childminder's planned curriculum builds on the children's interests and experiences from home, ensuring that children are physically active in their play developing their motor skills. Children show good control and coordination in their climbing and jumping. However, at times, the childminder does not consider the organisation of the indoor learning environment. For example, children are not always able to access a wide range of resources to promote independent play. On occasion, they can be reliant on the childminder to instigate play and learning. n The childminder works successfully with other providers to ensure that children's needs continue to be met when they attend multiple settings. The childminder works with other professionals to share feedback and support children who have additional needs. n The childminder has high expectations of children's behaviour, and they respond well to his calm and encouraging manner. For example, the childminder expects

17 June 2025 treat resources with care. On the few occasions disputes occur, the childminder quickly intervenes. n Children are encouraged to wash their hands and maintain their personal hygiene. The childminder works with parents to support young children to independently use the potty, praising efforts to have a go and reminding them they can try again later in the day. n The childminder always talks to the children while they are playing, holding thoughtful conversations and introducing new vocabulary. For example, while in the park, the childminder talked to the children about the seasons and the changes in the weather. n Partnerships with parents are good. The childminder speaks with parents daily and updates them on their child's progress in their learning. They comment on how flexible the childminder is, making time to update them on their child's progress that day.
