p.1

The provision is good

Children thrive in the childminder's very caring and welcoming environment. The childminder knows children very well. She ensures children's favourite resources are ready for children arriving. This helps to make children feel safe and secure in the childminder's home. Passion for her role shines through everything the childminder does. Enabling children to develop their personalities and characteristics is at the very heart of the childminder's nature. For example, children tell the childminder they do not know where jigsaw puzzle pieces fit. They giggle in delight as the childminder says 'I know you know where that piece goes'. Children show such happiness as they clap their hands and shout 'this piece goes here'.

p.2

The provision is good

The childminder offers children a curriculum that is designed to support and extend their individual skills and abilities. She knows exactly what children can do and what children need to learn next. The childminder reflects on children's progress. She organises activities to provide children with experiences that best support their future learning.

p.2

The provision is good

Children behave very well. They are polite and well mannered. Children know and respect the rules the childminder has in place. For example, they know to tidy their toys away before accessing further resources.

n The childminder is a very skilful communicator. She knows to talk slowly to children, to give children time to understand what has been said and to respond. The childminder knows to repeat the correct words back to children. For example, as children say 'the bricks felled', the childminder says 'yes, the bricks have fallen'. n Getting children to engage in activities they are less interested in is a particular skill the of the childminder. For example, the childminder encourages older children who are not attracted to books to read stories to younger children. This gives children pride in their achievements and helps to foster a love of books. n The childminder offers children many different and variety of opportunities to develop their fine motor skills. She joins children as they prepare fruit skewers. The childminder encourages children to hold a knife correctly and reminds them to press down on the fruit. She praises children's achievements as they push the

fruit onto the skewers. n The childminder is a very nurturing person. She knows children very well and immediately responds to children's needs. For example, as children show they are tired, the childminder cuddles them in and uses soothing words. The contentment children show as they lay in the childminder's arms is a pleasure to

27 June 2025 see. n The childminder has very good relationships with the local nursery and school children attend. She regularly shares information with teachers about children's development. Children attend activities at the local school with the childminder. This helps to build children's confidence as they move on to the next phase of their learning in school. n Children have many opportunities to meet with different adults and children outside of their own circle of relatives and friends. The childminder takes children to playgroups and meets with other childminders. This also gives the childminder opportunities to share ideas and information. n The childminder takes children out and about into the local community. For example, they visit local parks, where children can further develop their physical skills of running, jumping and climbing. n Parents value and appreciate the service the childminder provides. They like the

childminder's homely environment where children can play with their friends. Parents value the information the childminder shares with them about children's development. n The childminder ensures that all necessary qualifications, for example her paediatric first-aid training, are up to date. She accesses safeguarding training to make sure that children are kept safe in her environment. However, the childminder does not focus her professional development to help to enhance her knowledge and skills, and raise outcomes for children to an even higher level. n Occasionally, the childminder forgets to remind children to wash their hands before having a drink or eating. This is not helping children to develop a deeper understanding of why they need to wash their hands, nor does it reinforce their understanding of keeping themselves healthy.

Safeguarding

n target the plan for professional development to raise outcomes for children to an even higher level n develop children's knowledge of self-care skills even further to ensure they have a good understanding of why they need to keep themselves healthy.
