p.1

This provision does not meet requirements

There are significant weaknesses in the oversight of the club. The provider has failed to put in place recruitment checks for new staff. Therefore, Ofsted cannot be assured that staff working at the club are suitable to do so. The provider does not ensure that children's welfare is understood. Furthermore, the ongoing suitability of existing staff is unchecked. The management team is significantly confused about their safeguarding duties. The provider has failed to act on concerns that have been raised directly with them. The lack of support for the management team has a negative impact on their ability to fulfil their roles. The provider is failing to meet many other requirements of their registration and, as a result, children are at risk of harm. Therefore, Ofsted has suspended the registration of the club for six weeks.

This provision does not meet requirements

On the day of the inspection, staff welcomed children when they arrived from their classroom. Children settled quickly and happily greeted their friends. They interact positively with staff, responding easily to their gentle humour. In general, staff know the children well and provide a range of activities for them to enjoy after their day at school. The staff team are keen to make sure the activities are fun and take account of the children's interests.

p.2

need to do better?

n The provider does not follow recruitment processes for all new staff to determine their suitability for the role. They have not ensured that an enhanced criminal records check is in place for new members of staff. n The provider has failed to put arrangements in place to check that those working with children continue to be suitable during their employment. The management team was unable to find information relating to criminal records checks, including the date the check was obtained and by whom. This does not help keep children safe. n The provider has not put an induction process in place for new staff. Therefore, new staff have not received an induction, including safeguarding training, to help them fully understand their responsibilities and to provide the necessary support. This does not ensure children's welfare. n The culture of safeguarding is poor. The management team has not recorded concerns about children or staff working with children. The management team

has escalated concerns within the club to the provider and no action has been taken. Furthermore, the management team has been slow to escalate concerns externally. This does not ensure children's well-being and safety. n The staff team does not benefit from effective supervision in their roles. This means that gaps in staff knowledge and practice are not targeted. The provider

p.2

need to do better?

23 June 2025 has not ensured that staff have the support and coaching they need. Staff are overwhelmed with their duties. This puts pressure on staff and does not support their well-being. Also, staff do not have the opportunity to discuss any concerns about children or staff working with children. The provider has failed to foster an open culture of safeguarding that helps protect children from harm. n Required records have not been effectively maintained and are incomplete. For example, information about children and their families is missing. In addition, safeguarding concerns have not been sufficiently recorded, and concerns are not being clearly monitored. This means the provider is not safely and efficiently managing records to ensure the needs of all children are met. n The provider does not follow the complaints procedure nor do they ensure that complaints are accurately logged, along with a record of any outcomes.
