p.1
The provision is good
The childminder supports children to settle quickly when they arrive. She gives young babies the reassurance they need. She gently picks them up and they cuddle into her. Children demonstrate they feel safe and secure as they quickly settle and are ready to explore the range of activities on offer. The childminder is skilled at recognising when children are becoming tired and need to rest.
p.2
The provision is good
The childminder carefully considers what children already know and can do. For example, she provides children with opportunities to develop their physical skills. For young children learning to stand independently, she considers carefully how she can set her learning environment up to support children's needs. For example, she provides balancing beams for children to steady themselves on, and children excitedly wash babies with soap and water while standing at a small tray. Older children develop their skills in making marks using different materials.
p.2
The provision is good
Children's behaviour is exemplary. They know the routines of the day and know that before snack time they tidy up different resources. Children do this independently without being prompted. The childminder supports children to be as independent as possible. She encourages children to put on their own shoes and provides support if needed.

need to do better?
n The childminder is enthusiastic and committed to her role. Since her last inspection, she has attended a range of training courses as she wants to continually develop her practice. For example, she has accessed training on how to support children with the transition between home and the childminder. The childminder has developed a safeguarding file, which contains a range of information about safeguarding and relevant contact details should the childminder need them. She regularly checks for updates to ensure her knowledge is always kept as up to date as possible. n Opportunities to enhance children's mathematical development are embedded throughout the day. For example, children count how many sandwiches they will need for a picnic. They confidently count four sandwiches. The childminder thoughtfully extends children's learning by asking if there are enough sandwiches for everyone. Later, children choose to explore independently and

line up small figures in order, from small to big. The childminder introduces mathematical language to children and praises them when they have a go themselves. n The childminder places building relationships with children and their families as the highest importance. Parents comment how approachable the childminder is and how she has helped their children become as independent as possible. The

need to do better?
17 June 2025 childminder completes a comprehensive handover with parents when they drop children off in the morning. She finds out about how they have slept and what they have eaten at home. The childminder uses this information to help her plan her day. Parents feel well informed about their children's development and know how they can help their children at home. When parents need additional support with their children's development, the childminder signposts them to other agencies if needed. n Throughout the day, children become engaged in different learning experiences. Before they start, the childminder finds out about their starting points in development from parents. She then completes her own assessments and observations and develops children's next steps. The childminder interacts with children throughout their play, and they are keen to engage with and respond to her. Occasionally, the childminder is so enthusiastic, she steps in too quickly

before children have time to develop their own ideas and think about what they would like to do. n Children are becoming confident communicators. The childminder repeats words back to children to help develop their pronunciation. Throughout the day, the childminder reads books to children. Children are developing their love of favourite stories. They rush over to visitors to the setting to share a familiar book. Children join in with many parts of the story and excitedly share what they can see in the pictures. The childminder uses ambitious vocabulary and explains what this means. For example, when children notice a bee on a flower in the garden, the childminder explains that bees take pollen back to their hives.
