Inspection report for supported accommodation provider - monitoring visit: Majestic Healthcare Limited 1 Majestic Healthcare Limited
p.1
Registered provider: Majestic Healthcare Ltd
p.1
Inspected under the social care common inspection framework
p.1
provider
This supported accommodation service is operated by a private provider. The provider can accommodate up to five children between two properties that are not limited to accommodating looked-after children or care leavers. The provider operates in the West Midlands.
p.1
provider
The provider registered in May 2024. The same individual performs the duties of both the registered service manager and the nominated individual. They have been in post since registration.
p.1
This monitoring visit
This visit was arranged to address specific concerns received by Ofsted.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Poor decision-making by leaders and managers has resulted in the admission of children who need high levels of support. This is outside of the scope of supported accommodation. This has placed children at risk of harm. It has also become necessary for children to move again to a more appropriate setting after a very short period. This negatively impacts on children’s ability to settle and trust those around them in the future.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Staff complete online training courses as part of their induction to the service. However, needs-led training to help them meet the individual needs of the children they support is not always available to them. This includes the misuse of alcohol and drugs as well as understanding and managing self-harming behaviours. This limits staff’s ability to provide the best support to children.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Staff recruitment is not thorough. Managers have not completed safer recruitment training. As a result, they are not alert to indicators that would give rise to concern Inspection report for supported accommodation provider - monitoring visit: Majestic Healthcare Limited 2 regarding an individual’s integrity. Managers do not always seek a reference from an individual’s last employer or from an employer when the individual worked in a similar social care setting. Furthermore, while managers request identity documents, discrepancies in the information provided have not been identified or explored. Managers do not see documentary evidence of formal qualifications obtained by staff. These failures compromise the effectiveness of the recruitment process.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Following recruitment, the staff induction and probation process is inconsistent. Managers sign staff out of probation with bold claims about the quality of their practice before they have worked directly with children as part of their shift. This gives false assurance about their capabilities and does not support staff to perform their duties effectively.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Leaders and managers fail to notify Ofsted following serious incidents. There have been several incidents, including assaults on staff, self-harming episodes and incidents of police involvement that the provider has not considered serious enough to warrant a notification. This limits Ofsted’s ability to ensure that the provider has taken the necessary actions to keep children safe.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Some essential information for children is not readily available, for example a register of children that have been accommodated. This means that crucial information is not available or is difficult to locate. Inspection report for supported accommodation provider - monitoring visit: Majestic Healthcare Limited 3
