p.1
The provision is good
The childminder provides a warm and welcoming learning environment, helping children to settle quickly and start their learning. The childminder is fully aware of children's individual needs and plans accordingly to meet them. This helps the childminder and her assistants to progress children's learning.
p.2
The provision is good
The childminder is fully alert to changes in family circumstances and successfully uses this information to support the children and their families. She changes the tone of her voice and is highly alert to environmental factors that could impact the children emotionally. This helps to support children's emotional and social development. The childminder is consistent in her approach to behaviour management. She takes time to explain to children of all ages the differences between right and wrong. The childminder uses positive reinforcement to support children, building positively on their self-esteem and confidence. Given the children's ages, they behave well.
p.2
The provision is good
The childminder supports children's language development well. She uses a mix of English and Italian to support children to learn new words. Children are highly skilled in understanding what is being asked and said. This further helps their language development. The childminder makes good use of outside agencies to support children, helping to narrow gaps in their learning. She makes good use of local speech and language sessions to support children who have gaps in this area of their learning.

need to do better?
n The childminder works well with her assistants to assess the quality of care and education they provide. They work together to review practice, evaluating how successful activities are in meeting the children's next steps of learning. This helps them to support children's development and progress towards the early learning goals. n Although the childminder provides good-quality activities, she is not always consistent in supporting children's early mathematical development as well as she could. She does not always talk to children using mathematical language to provide further challenge for children. n Parents provided highly positive feedback. The childminder works with them and keeps them informed of their child's progress and how they can support their child at home. The childminder takes on board and actions any suggestions from parents. She gathers feedback from parents on any new changes she has made.

This helps the children to learn about their own safety, and they risk- assess as they play. n The childminder works hard to teach children compassion and respect. Children learn how to hold and care for the rabbits, ensuring they are careful and gentle as they stroke them. Children are also taught the importance of using 'kind hands' as they play. This greatly supports children's personal and social development. n Children learn about the life cycles of animals through the childminder's pets. They learn how birds lay eggs and these hatch into chicks. The children enjoy watching the chicks as they learn to feed and start to fledge their nest. This helps children to learn about the wider world in which they live. n The childminder provides lots of cuddles of reassurance and support for children. She takes time to learn about their needs and concerns so that she can
