Inspection report for supported accommodation provider – monitoring visit: Exceed Support Services Ltd 1 Exceed Support Services Ltd
p.1
Registered provider: Exceed Support Services Limited
p.1
Inspected under the social care common inspection framework
p.1
provider
This service is owned and operated by a private provider. It offers accommodation for up to seven children in three shared premises that are not limited to looked-after children and care leavers. At the time of the visit, no children were being supported.
p.1
provider
The service manager, who is also the nominated individual, registered with Ofsted in April 2024.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Ofsted carried out a monitoring visit on 10 March 2025 in response to the provider admitting a 13-year-old child, which was not within the scope of the supported accommodation regulations or the provider’s conditions of registration. A compliance notice was issued.
p.1
This monitoring visit
A further monitoring visit took place on 22 April 2025 to monitor progress against the compliance notice. The notice was reissued and has been monitored again at this visit.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The inspector visited one premises and spoke with the registered service manager, the deputy manager and the care coordinator. The child who should not have been placed in supported accommodation has been supported to move out. However, an absence of records relating to this transition makes it difficult to assess the quality of planning and support provided by staff for the child. In addition, a register that includes the dates children are admitted and leave the service is not maintained.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The registered service manager has made some progress in reviewing admissions procedures. This progress is sufficient to meet the requirements of the compliance notice. However, although the policy has been updated, this and other related Inspection report for supported accommodation provider – monitoring visit: Exceed Support Services Ltd 2 documents are not clear about the characteristics of children who should be admitted to supported accommodation.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The statement of purpose requires improvement. Information within this document is potentially misleading for local authorities wishing to place children. For example, it does not contain sufficient information about the characteristics of children who should be accommodated and references staffing ratios of two or three staff to one child. A child requiring these levels of support is not likely to be ready for or suitable to live in supported accommodation.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Two requirements made at previous visits relating to children’s risk assessments and the quality of care review have not been fully considered at this visit. These will be reviewed at the next inspection. Inspection report for supported accommodation provider – monitoring visit: Exceed Support Services Ltd 3
