p.1

This provision meets requirements

Staff warmly greet children as they skip into the club eager to start their day. Staff gather ongoing information about children's play interests. Staff work hard to build strong relationships with the children. As such, children demonstrate that they feel safe and secure as they immerse themselves in their chosen activity. For instance, older children work with staff to create a race track for cars. Younger children choose to colour pictures and create models with building blocks.

This provision meets requirements

Leaders create themes in the club such as going on an 'adventure'. Staff use these opportunities to develop children's understanding of how to keep themselves safe in the event of an accident. Staff are fun and encourage children to draw around their bodies with chalk as they lay down. Younger children use bandages on cuddly toys as they pretend their toys have had a fall on an adventure. Furthermore, staff introduce the concepts of basic first aid to the children and who to call if they need help, such as 999.

n Staff support children to understand the club rules. For example, they use the daily welcome session to help children consider how they can be kind to their friends. Children are quick to put their hands up and confidently tell staff the importance of the club rules. This helps children understand the behaviours expected from them. Children play very well together. Older children are kind and help younger children in the various games they play. This helps children develop their friendships. n Staff ensure children have lots of opportunities to run and play games. Younger children learn to balance and climb confidently in the outdoor area. Staff support children to learn how to play team games. Children cheer for their friends and run with confidence. These games help children develop their strength and physical skills. n Children use their imagination to recall events from their time at the club. For

instance, recently, staff helped children to learn how to build a fire for when you are camping. Children remember these activities and work with their friends as they gather sticks and leaves to create their own fire. Staff are deployed well, and children often invite them into their play ideas. Staff are genuinely interested in the conversations they have with children and create a calm and nurturing environment.

on completing some planned activities. This means that sometimes younger children who need support lose focus and are not sure what to play with. n Leaders have a robust recruitment procedure to ensure that staff are suitable for their roles. Staff receive effective induction so that they understand their roles and responsibilities. Leaders ensure that staff understand policies and procedures and monitor their implementation successfully.
