The provision requires improvement
Children benefit from a warm, welcoming and supportive atmosphere. They form strong bonds with familiar staff, who are patient and attentive in their approach. Children are treated with respect and kindness and their uniqueness is celebrated. They play collaboratively with their friends and are confident to chat to visitors. Children are regularly praised for their efforts and contributions. This helps them to feel safe and secure and impacts positively on their self-esteem and sense of belonging.
p.2
The provision requires improvement
Children have many opportunities to independently select what they would like to do. They enjoy their learning and are curious to explore and try new things. Children make play dough, play in the outdoor area, paint and explore sounds using musical instruments. However, leaders have not ensured that staff have a thorough understanding of the curriculum intent and how to sequence learning to enable all children to reach their full potential.
p.2
The provision requires improvement
Overall, children behave well for their age. They are learning to share and to take turns and understand the consequence of their actions. Children skilfully use a timer to enable them to recognise when they need give up their dummies. This helps children to understand what is expected of them. However, not all staff have the required knowledge and skills to support children's behaviour consistently. Furthermore, routines and transitions, particularly for younger children, are not always effective. As a result, some children struggle to regulate their behaviour, despite staff's best efforts.

need to do better?
n Leaders have begun to make improvements and have welcomed support from the local authority and external agencies. These changes are positive but are still in their infancy. There is more work to be done to ensure that improvements are embedded and sustained. That said, leaders are proactive, positive and keen to do their very best for children and their families. n The setting has been through a period of significant challenge. Leaders have struggled to establish a stable and consistent staff team. Staffing arrangements are now more secure. There are appropriate measures in place to ensure that statutory ratio requirements are met and that all staff working with children are aware of their responsibilities. However, leaders have a lack of robust oversight to make certain that all staff fully understand children's individual care and learning needs. This sometimes impacts on the quality of practice and

Furthermore, not all staff are fully aware of what children need to learn next. This means that the quality of teaching is variable, and not all children are consistently supported to make the best possible progress. n Children are learning the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle. They benefit from healthy and nutritious meals, practice toothbrushing and enjoy outdoor physical play. Children are developing their self-care skills as they wipe their faces after eating and wash their hands after using the bathroom. Children freely explore a well-resourced environment that is safe, secure and suitable. n Staff support children to recognise and manage their emotions. They select carefully considered books such as 'The Colour Monster,' and discuss with

children how they are feeling. Through staff's sensitive interactions, children develop resilience. They have a positive attitude to learning and take pride in their achievements. This supports children well as they prepare to move to school and experience the wider world around them. n Staff benefit from regular and purposeful supervision meetings. Practice is observed and leaders and staff collectively engage in reflection, discussion and evaluation. Since the last inspection staff have benefit from targeted training to help improve their knowledge and skills and bring about improvements. For example, recent training around communication and language has had a positive impact on staff's ability to support children's emerging speaking skills.
