Inspection report for children's home - monitoring visit: 2719899 1 Registered provider: XYP Childcare Limited
p.1
Inspected under the social care common inspection framework
p.1
Information about this children’s home
The home registered as a multi-building children’s home in July 2023. The manager registered as part of this registration.
p.1
Information about this children’s home
The home provides care for up to two children who may experience social and emotional difficulties, across up to three buildings under a single registration.
p.1
Information about this children’s home
There were two children living in the home at the time of this visit.
p.1
Inspection date: 14 May 2025
During an assurance inspection completed on 25 March 2025, serious and widespread concerns were identified. Ofsted issued two compliance notices under Regulation 12, the protection of children standard, and Regulation 13, the leadership and management standard.
p.1
Inspection date: 14 May 2025
This monitoring visit was undertaken to monitor the provider’s compliance with these notices.
p.1
Inspection date: 14 May 2025
Since the previous inspection, leaders and managers have taken some action to improve the home environment. However, during this visit, inspectors identified that no action had been taken to remove a child’s bedroom blinds that could cause a potential risk. This was addressed with the manager, and action was taken during this visit.
p.1
Inspection date: 14 May 2025
The manager’s monitoring of the home is poor. It is unclear if staff are familiar with crucial information about children, as documents are not always signed.
p.1
Inspection date: 14 May 2025
Risk management plans do not include key information relating to children. Strategies for staff to follow to minimise known risks are not clear, for example risks relating to self-harm, electronic cigarettes, and exploitation. Inspection report for children's home - monitoring visit: 2719899 2 During this visit, a child was seen with an electronic cigarette in his hand. This was not challenged by staff, and there is no risk assessment to include strategies about how to manage this risk.
p.1
Inspection date: 14 May 2025
Since the last inspection, there have been two safeguarding incidents. The quality of the incident recording is poor. In one incident, there were no reflections about staff practice and if they managed the incident appropriately. Records from another incident do not contain all relevant information. Following this incident, it is not clear what action was taken to reduce the risk of this happening again.
p.2
Inspection date: 14 May 2025
Staff have not attended specific training to help them understand their roles and responsibilities. This is despite the manager stating he is concerned about staff’s understanding regarding professional boundaries.
p.2
Inspection date: 14 May 2025
Leaders and managers do not inform Ofsted of all serious safeguarding incidents in line with regulation. Following this monitoring visit, a safeguarding notification was received. However, leaders and managers had not shared this information during the visit.
p.2
Inspection date: 14 May 2025
During this visit, the manager could not demonstrate how he tests out how staff are becoming more professionally curious. The manager spoke about how he is implementing new safeguarding workshops that will incorporate scenarios. However, this work has not been completed.
p.2
Inspection date: 14 May 2025
The managers have implemented a new online recording system. The manager stated that this will give him improved oversight. However, during this visit, the manager was not able to find all relevant documents to demonstrate any improvements in his monitoring and review systems. This does not satisfy the regulator that these new systems are robust and effective.
p.2
Inspection date: 14 May 2025
Staff have attended further safeguarding training. They have completed a variety of training courses, for example exploitation, self-harm and missing from care. However, it is unclear how the manager has assured himself of what learning staff have understood and how this is improving their practice.
p.2
Inspection date: 14 May 2025
It is Ofsted’s view that the provider has not taken sufficient action to meet the compliance notices issued under Regulation 12, the protection of children standard, and Regulation 13, the leadership and management standard.
p.2
Inspection date: 14 May 2025
Requirements from the last full inspection were not looked at as part of this visit and will be reviewed at the next inspection. Inspection report for children's home - monitoring visit: 2719899 3
