p.1

Information about this children’s home

This home is owned by a private organisation and is registered to care for up to four children with emotional and social difficulties. At the time of the inspection, no children were living in this home.

Information about this children’s home

At the time of the inspection, there was no registered manager in post.

p.1

This monitoring visit

Since the previous inspection, there have been some issues with recruiting and retaining suitable staff and a suitable manager. Leaders within the organisation recognised the instability that would be caused by the home not having a manager and the home therefore remained empty following a child moving out in June 2024.

p.1

This monitoring visit

Due to the home not accommodating children for more than a three-month period, Ofsted served a notice of proposal to vary the conditions of registration under section 13 of the Care Standards Act 2000. Leaders and managers accepted Ofsted’s proposal, and on 6 December 2024 a condition was added to the home’s registration. This stipulated that the registered person must inform the Chief Inspector of their intention to accommodate children at the home at least three months before any child is accommodated.

p.1

This monitoring visit

On 27 February 2025, the registered person informed Ofsted that they would like to accommodate children from 1 June 2025. This monitoring visit was completed to assess whether the condition imposed by Ofsted on the home’s registration could be removed. Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 2635655 2 The organisation has made clear efforts to recruit suitable staff, including a deputy manager and a new manager, who has applied to register with Ofsted. The staff team has some relevant experience, and there is an additional member of staff who wishes to transfer from another of the organisation’s homes who has a good level of previous experience. The statement of purpose identifies that the home specialises in supporting children who are victims of exploitation or who have suffered significant trauma. All new members of staff have, therefore, engaged with relevant training as part of their induction, which includes safeguarding, attachment and child

This monitoring visit

The home is considerably sized. Downstairs, there is an open-plan kitchen and dining room area. The home also benefits from a lounge and a ‘snug’. This allows children to choose when they would like to spend time together and when they would like to be alone. Upstairs are four children’s bedrooms and two staff sleep-in rooms. The children’s bedrooms are neutrally decorated and are ready for children to move in. Communal areas are tastefully decorated, and furniture and furnishings are of a good standard.
