Inspection report for children’s home – monitoring visit: 2732796 1 Registered provider: Rite Directions Ltd
p.1
Inspected under the social care common inspection framework
p.1
Information about this children’s home
This home is owned and managed by a private company. It provides care for up to three children who may have learning disabilities or sensory impairment.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The purpose of this monitoring visit was to review the progress made to meet the steps of the compliance notice issued under regulation 13, the leadership and management standard. Ofsted found that the provider has not taken sufficient steps to meet all the compliance notice steps. The provider is continuing to comply with the notice restricting accommodation. One child continues to live in the home.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The home has been without a registered manager since November 2024. The responsible individual and manager from the provider’s other home have provided management oversight.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Staff have adapted their communication style and approach to the child’s needs. Staff are reassuring and supportive when the child is upset and help them to communicate their needs. The responsible individual is working with the local authority to continue to develop communication resources to enable the child to have greater involvement in decisions about their care.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Managers have improved their oversight of incidents. They check that staff are only using approved strategies to help manage the child’s behaviour. This oversight includes weekly checks of records and discussions with staff to learn and reflect from incidents.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Communication with other professionals has improved. Managers have collaborated closely with the child’s social worker to share relevant information appropriately and in a timely manner. Inspection report for children’s home – monitoring visit: 2732796 2 The systems to check that the environment is safe and free from hazards are ineffective. There are no hazards in the home. However, certain areas in the garden pose a risk to the child. This does not ensure that the child is safeguarded effectively. Although the home started to address this during inspection, this step of the compliance has been restated.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Other areas of the home continue to need maintenance and general refurbishment. The general home environment is not warm and welcoming. For example, there are areas where the carpet is stained. The blinds in the lounge need repair or replaced.
p.2
This monitoring visit
The home remains without permanent management arrangements. The notice restricting accommodation remains in place.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Not all of the requirements and recommendations raised at the last monitoring visit were reviewed by the inspector at this visit. These have been restated. Inspection report for children’s home – monitoring visit: 2732796 3
