p.1

The provision is good

The childminder creates a welcoming, relaxed and homely environment for children. She knows the children well and is very aware of their individual care and learning needs. Children have lovely attachments with the childminder, and approach her for reassurance and cuddles throughout the day.

p.2

The provision is good

Overall, the childminder is clear about what she wants children to learn and why. Her curriculum focuses on the prime areas of learning for the younger children, supporting their communication, physical skills and teaching them to be kind and caring individuals. She enhances her curriculum further for older children, planning activities to support their readiness for school.

p.2

The provision is good

The childminder is a good role model. Children's behaviour is good. She is calm and relaxed and speaks to children in a gentle way. She helps children to be kind and considerate of one another, gently reminding them about sharing toys. This helps children to develop good social skills. From a young age, children are developing their independence skills well. This is due to the childminder giving children time to practise these skills. Children are able to find their shoes before going into the garden and show real determination in putting their shoes on by themselves.

n The childminder shows great passion and dedication in her work. She expresses her enjoyment in supporting young children's early development through a fun and stimulating learning environment. She accesses regular training to ensure she keeps up to date with any changes. In addition, she keeps in contact with her local authority development worker to support her ongoing practice. n The childminder adapts her curriculum depending on the ages of children attending. She is aware that younger children's concentration is much shorter and organises her home and garden with activities to encourage their learning. She ensures she is sitting with the children to offer support and develop their learning further. n The childminder has a well-resourced large garden for children to play outdoors and they walk confidently around choosing their play. They also enjoy regular trips to parks or other places of interest, supporting their understanding of the

world around them. Children have experiences to support their hand-eye coordination as they use a watering can to pour water down the water chutes and catch the water in a bucket. They enjoy digging in the sand and transfer sand from different containers. However, the childminder places less emphasis on planning for physical development to support more intricate skills, for example learning to balance, jump or hop. n The childminder has a very good relationship with parents. They are extremely

12 May 2025 happy with the care that is provided. Parents comment that they see a genuine warmth where she creates a safe and nurturing environment and see their children are flourishing. The childminder keeps parents up to date with their children's progress and offers advice on how they can support their children's progress at home. For example, when is the best time to start toilet training. This helps to ensure there is a consistent approach to children's care and learning. n Children demonstrate a positive attitude to learning and focus for short periods of time on activities that interest them. They have great fun making marks with chalk on the patio and watch in awe when they add water and watch the chalk marks disappear. n The childminder supports children's communication and language skills effectively. She encourages lots of conversations as children play. She has a good selection of age-appropriate books, which children can freely look at and

also have story times together. Children listen intently to the 'Tiger Who Came to Tea' story and remember the story later, asking for it to be read again. The childminder also reads stories as children lay down for a sleep after lunch, supporting them to have a relaxed and peaceful rest time. n The childminder promotes children's good health effectively. For example, they enjoy a range of healthy snacks and are reminded to drink water regularly. Parents provide their child's meals, and the childminder ensures that the foods provided are a healthy option. The childminder has a strong awareness of supporting children with food allergies and understands how to respond if a child had a reaction. Young children show awareness of the importance of good hygiene and tell the childminder 'wash hands' when she announces it is time for lunch.
