p.1
The provision is good
Children enter the nursery happy and excited to start their day. Staff greet them affectionately and help them to feel welcome. They quickly settle into the exciting activities on offer. Staff are kind and caring, and they stay close to children who are new to the nursery. This helps children to feel reassured and safe in their new environment.
p.2
The provision is good
The curriculum is ambitious for all children and is sequenced across the nursery to build on the skills children have already learned. Staff plan interesting activities based on what they know about children. For example, children who have a specific interest in sea animals are given opportunities to play with a variety of different sea creatures during water play. This helps children to stay motivated and increase their concentration skills. Staff assess children's development and create appropriate learning targets for them so that they make consistently good progress.
p.2
The provision is good
Children learn to be respectful of one another. Staff are good role models and remind children of behaviour expectations. From an early age, children learn to label emotions and begin to understand the effect of their behaviour on others. They develop friendships and are kind and caring towards each other and adults.

need to do better?
n Children learn to be confident communicators. Staff provide an environment that is rich in language. Children are constantly exposed to new language through all aspects of the nursery routine. Babies watch in amazement as staff sing new songs and dance to music. Older children develop their thinking skills as staff ask questions and encourage conversation. Consequently, children are confident to suggest their own ideas and express themselves. n Children follow well-established routines. Staff support them to wash their hands before meals and settle them to sleep after eating. On some occasions, however, staff become preoccupied with completing tasks and do not always apply sensitivity when carrying out personal care routines with children. For example, staff take items of clothing off children as they walk in from outdoors and wipe children's hands and faces without explaining what is happening to them.

need to do better?
n Children have constant access to activities that allow them to learn through experimentation. Children mix ingredients together independently and discover what happens if they add too much water to flour. Staff are skilled at asking questions that help children to think about what they need to do to solve their own problems. Children work out that more flour makes their liquid less runny. Outdoors, children pour water through pipes. They try to find ways to stop the water running out the other end and investigate different ways to do this. As a

29 April 2025 result, children become competent at solving problems. n Children learn how to keep themselves safe. Staff speak to them about the dangers of the sun and why it is important to apply sun cream and wear hats when outdoors. Children respond to this positively and remind their friends to keep their hats on during their time playing outside. n Children with special educational need and/or disabilities are well-supported. Staff work closely with parents and other professionals to devise support plans for children. Staff know children well and successfully implement the curriculum to ensure that all children make progress. n Leaders and staff provide a range of learning experiences for children as enhancements to the curriculum. Children learn about the wider environment and how to look after their world and nature. A new music programme helps children to learn about concepts such as emotions and mathematics through

music and dance. Staff incorporate these programmes into their daily plans so that children have chance to build on their existing knowledge even further. n Leaders are supportive and value the staff team. They implement programmes that focus on staff well-being and encourage a peer reward system to help build relationships among the team. Staff have access to training opportunities that improve their own knowledge and skills. Leaders observe and monitor staff practice to ensure that learning opportunities for children are constantly being improved. n Parents comment highly of the care children receive. Leaders and staff prioritise working with parents and have effective arrangements for communicating with them. Staff provide ideas of how to support children's learning further at home. Parents comment that children make progress, are happy to attend and are ready for their move to school.
