Context and focus of visit
Ofsted undertakes to carry out monitoring visits to all newly directly funded providers of adult learning provision where the provision offered is in scope for inspection. This follow-up safeguarding monitoring visit has been carried out consequent to the provider being found to be making insufficient progress with respect to safeguarding at their previous monitoring visit. It follows the arrangements outlined in the ‘Further education and skills inspection handbook’.
p.2
Context and focus of visit
The focus of this visit is only on the safeguarding theme below.
p.2
Reasonable progress
Leaders have taken appropriate action to address the weaknesses in safeguarding practice identified at the previous visit. They now have in place suitable ‘Prevent’ duty policies, a risk assessment and an action plan to help keep learners safe from radicalisation and extremism. Leaders have worked with the regional ‘Prevent’ duty coordinator to make sure the risk assessment is relevant to the driving and logistics industry. They recognise that the risk assessment needs further development to make actions more precise.
p.2
Reasonable progress
Leaders provided useful training for staff focused on how the ‘Prevent’ duty is pertinent to their industry. Instructors have used this training to better understand the signs they should look for when considering risks such as tattoos which represent extremist groups. They are well informed and confidently teach learners about the risks that they may face.
p.2
Reasonable progress
Learners understand they could be susceptible to being coerced into using their vehicle as a weapon and a target for being drawn into human trafficking. They understand how to protect their vehicle, such as considering where to leave it, so they are less likely to become a target for hijackers. Learners know about broader safeguarding risks such as when driving in Europe. They understand that they need to remain alert to help protect themselves. Monitoring visit: Wetherby Training Limited, 25 April 2025 regulates and inspects to achieve excellence in the care of children and young people, and in education and skills for learners of all ages. It regulates and inspects childcare and children’s social care, and inspects the Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service (Cafcass), schools, colleges, initial teacher training, further education and skills, adult and community learning, and education
