The service also offers shared or group living homes that are not limited to accommodating looked-after children or care leavers. The provider operates in the Yorkshire region of England.

p.1

p.1

This monitoring visit

Ofsted carried out a full inspection from 3 to 7 February 2025. The inspectors found serious and widespread weaknesses leading to significant concerns about children’s experiences and progress. Following that inspection, Ofsted issued three compliance notices regarding the safety and protection of children, the leadership and management of the service and the standard of children’s accommodation, and raised a further three requirements. Inspection report for supported accommodation provider - monitoring visit: Our Way Leeds GIPSIL 2 The purpose of this visit was to consider the progress made against the compliance notices and the requirements. The inspectors spoke with leaders and managers, staff, children and professionals, and reviewed documents and records. As a result of the positive changes that leaders and managers are making across the service, all three compliance notices are met.

p.1

This monitoring visit

Leaders and managers are now actively taking learning from the shortfalls identified at the full inspection. They are sharing this learning with staff to improve the support that children receive. Staff now attend meetings about children’s needs and access pertinent documents and information to ensure that they understand their roles and responsibilities in supporting the children and keeping them safe.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Leaders and managers are implementing new systems to make sure that they can support the needs of children who may be placed in this service. They now recognise that it is essential for children’s well-being and safety to ensure that all required information about the child’s needs is accessible to all relevant managers and staff before the child is admitted. In addition, leaders and managers are seeking new ways to gather children’s opinions around their move into the service to ensure that they receive the right support from the start. Admission procedures are an ongoing area of development and could not be fully tested at this inspection.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Leaders and managers are taking steps to improve their oversight of the service, children’s safety and their progress. New auditing systems are in place to ensure that staff are accountable for their practice. For example, these systems now better support leaders and managers to review children’s support plans and identify shortfalls. These actions address the requirements around monitoring and care planning for children, which were raised at the last inspection.

p.2

This monitoring visit

The quality of children’s accommodation is improving. Children are benefiting from welcoming and homely environments. Their homes have been redecorated and they have new furnishings. All children now have basic household items, such as washing machines and access to Wi-Fi. This helps children to feel secure and valued.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Staff now complete training to help them to understand how to keep children safe. This training includes sessions around ‘cuckooing’ and safe relationships. Staff are effectively putting their learning into practice and increasing their professional curiosity to reduce risks to children.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Additional requirements set at the full inspection are met. A requirement raised to ensure that leaders and managers undertake full checks of staff before they start work is now standard procedure. A requirement to improve the quality of supervision is embedding in practice, and supervision sessions now focus on the needs of the children and address issues with the standard of staff performance.
