p.1

The provision is outstanding

Children flourish in this stimulating and welcoming home-from-home environment. They benefit from a highly experienced childminder that offers a broad and stimulating curriculum, which is precisely tailored to each child. The childminder embeds children's developing speech and language into their learning experiences exceptionally well. For instance, when children encounter an insect, she ignites their curiosity for exploration and prompts them to find a magnifying glass. Children investigate its intricate features and enthusiastically describe what they see. The childminder extends their learning with carefully chosen insect-themed books, which inspires rich discussion and imaginative thinking. Children are highly engaged and learn new vocabulary, such as 'quickly' and 'slowly,' as they discover how different insects move. They begin their educational journey with a genuine passion for continuous learning.

The provision is outstanding

The childminder is extremely calm and patient. She gently encourages children to be kind to others and to independently have a go at solving any problems they come across. Children show resilience and high levels of determination. For example, they excitedly work together to tidy away toys so they can sing and dance in a safe space. When a small water spillage occurs, very young children take responsibility to wipe it up themselves. All children share resources with enthusiasm and demonstrate a strong sense of empathy for others.

need to do better?

n The childminder has a superb knowledge of the children in her care. Her goal is to motivate and inspire children to learn through first-hand experiences. For example, she teaches children about life cycles through planting and harvesting fruit and vegetables. She encourages them to take responsibility for watering them daily and introduces new words, such as 'germinate' and 'sprout.' Children delight in measuring their beans and engage in active discussions about how their plants grow. n The childminder promotes children's early literacy and mathematical development to an outstanding level. For example, children build strength in their finger and hand muscles as they excitedly squeeze water from bottles. As they enthusiastically pour and mix in different colours, the childminder encourages them to describe the patterns that are forming. Following children's interests in funnels, she extends their learning further with encouragement to

explore differences in water flow. The childminder expertly builds on their mathematical understanding and weaves in language, such as 'full' and 'empty.' . n The childminder places the highest priority on children's health and well-being. She has attended extensive training in this area, and has achieved a healthy eating award. Following this the childminder has introduced a new menu which

They express pure joy as they dance to music and say they are 'happy' and 'excited.' n The childminder spends time getting to know children and their families, and forms strong, trusting relationships with them right from the start. She provides parents with guidance, such as on sleeping and oral hygiene, and specific support that is tailored to the learning needs of their child. Parents emphasise

that their children feel genuinely cared for and loved, and comment 'there is no better way for a child to start their learning journey.' n The childminder works exceedingly well with other professionals. She visits children at the other settings they also attend, and shares their on-going development and next steps with their key person. This ensures that children consistently receive highly effective tailored support and progress well. n The childminder demonstrates an exceptional commitment to continuous improvement to help benefit children. She proactively engages in a wide range of high-quality training to further enrich her practice. In addition, she plays a key leadership role within the childminding community, offering guidance and support to colleagues. She organises annual charity and sports events that bring together children from other settings, which significantly enhances their well- being and social development.
