p.1
The provision is good
Children are engaged and motivated during their time with the experienced and friendly childminder. They make good progress overall in all aspects of their learning and are well prepared for the next stage in their development, including starting school. The childminder systematically builds on children's interests, skills and engagement through increasingly well-planned activities. For instance, children develop their fine muscle control and knowledge of colours as they work together with the childminder to build the tallest tower they can with their colourful construction toys. They use their counting skills and understanding of shapes as they work.
p.2
The provision is good
Children are very well behaved. The childminder helps children to explore their emotions and to manage their own behaviour. They feel safe and secure. The childminder is a very good role model and strongly supports children to be kind and considerate towards each other. She helps them to achieve good standards of personal hygiene. For example, children patiently wait their turn while their friends thoroughly wash their hands after they have finished their activities. Children enjoy participating in many physical activities, such as dance, yoga, climbing and sliding. Parents appreciate the close bonds the childminder establishes with their children that contribute to the confidence and social development.

need to do better?
n The childminder has strongly developed her curriculum to provide memorable experiences that strategically help to build children's learning overall. However, she does not consistently reinforce and deepen their knowledge through all their play, such as by regularly asking questions that enable children to think and reason and helping children to use their new learning and vocabulary. n The childminder strongly promotes children's listening, speaking and early literacy skills. She introduces children to well-chosen songs and nursery rhymes that develop their familiarity with the sounds, patterns and rhythm of language. She generally encourages children to talk to each other as they play and leads by example. n The childminder encourages children's love of, and engagement with, books. She carefully chooses books that broaden children's understanding of the world and cultural experiences. She reads stories well and helps children to follow the plot

She encourages children to behave well and use 'please' and 'thank you' as they select their toys or tidy away together. She makes good use of books and stories to support children's understanding of fairness and sharing and to recognise and manage their

She makes good use of a range of resources, including training and discussions with parents and early years professionals to reflect on children's learning and develop her practice. She has fully reviewed and improved the use of her premises and outdoor spaces to ensure that children always play safely and that routines for toileting and nappy changing are healthy and constructive. n The childminder promotes children's independent learning skills well. She encourages them to choose the toys and books they would like to play with. She helps them to develop favourite songs, rhymes and stories. The childminder teaches children to put on their own shoes and to put on and fasten their coats. All these activities prepare them well for their later learning. n The childminder strongly encourages children's physical skills, health and well-
