Information about this children’s home
At the time of this visit, the home’s registration was suspended. Therefore, no children were living at the home.
p.1
This monitoring visit
This home was judged inadequate on 25 October 2024. Inspectors identified serious concerns in relation to staff safeguarding practices and poor and ineffective leadership and management arrangements. Following the inspection, a notice to suspend the home’s registration was issued along with compliance notices under regulation 12 (the protection of children standard) and regulation 13 (the leadership and management standard). A monitoring visit was carried out on 17 December 2024. Following this visit, Ofsted issued further compliance notices under regulations 12 and 13. The notice to suspend the home’s registration remained in place.
p.1
This monitoring visit
A monitoring visit was completed on 16 January 2025. The outcome of this visit was that the compliance notice for regulation 12 was met. However, the provider had not taken sufficient action to meet the compliance notice under regulation 13. Due to the ongoing serious concerns in respect of leadership and management, a further notice to suspend the provider’s registration was issued on 17 January 2025.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The purpose of this visit was to monitor the suspension notice and review the action taken by the provider. Ofsted found that the provider has complied with the suspension notice.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Changes have been made to the leadership and management arrangements at the home. However, the provider has not adhered to their own recruitment policy. The provider has recruited a new manager and responsible individual. However, their Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 2653112 2 suitability for these roles has not been assessed by Ofsted. Staff understand leadership and management arrangements.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Communication between leaders and managers has been strengthened by the introduction of leadership and senior leadership meetings. Leaders and managers understand their roles and responsibilities. Developments have been made to the managers’ monitoring systems. For example, the manager has introduced new auditing tools.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Managers have recruited permanent staff. This will support children to be cared for by familiar adults. Staff understand their roles and responsibilities in keeping children safe. Staff access training, regular supervision sessions and team meetings. This supports staff to have the knowledge and skills to care for children. Managers have used reflective discussions and scenario-based questions to ensure that staff have understood how to apply the training to their practice when caring for a child.
p.2
This monitoring visit
The provider had taken sufficient action to meet the shortfalls outlined in the notice of suspension. Therefore, the suspension was lifted. However, the suitability of the proposed responsible individual and the proposed manager has not been assessed by Ofsted. Therefore, an urgent condition has been imposed that reduces the number of children for whom the home can provide accommodation and care from three children to one child. This condition is in place until 23 June 2025.
p.2
This monitoring visit
The requirements previously raised under regulations 8, 32 and 40 were not reviewed during this visit. For this reason, they are restated. Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 2653112 3
