Findings from the inspection
One unaccompanied asylum seeking child living in the home has fled their home country where they lost close family members. The child’s native language is Pashto. The manager has been able to ensure that there is a Pashto speaking member of staff on every shift. This has helped the child to feel welcomed and valued.
p.2
Findings from the inspection
Children are supported to adhere to their faith and cultural needs. They are supported by staff who practice the same faith, meaning their needs are always fully met.
p.2
Findings from the inspection
Risk assessments are reviewed regularly to ensure that they contain the most up-to- date information. All relevant risks are identified, and there is guidance for staff on how risks can be mitigated. Behaviour support plans include potential triggers to challenging behaviour and strategies that staff can use to effectively respond to behaviour. This enables staff to meet children’s needs and promote their safety.
p.2
Findings from the inspection
All children are in full-time education. One child is making excellent progress in school and is on track to complete all their targets and grades. The child is hoping to go on to study social work at university.
p.2
Findings from the inspection
Physical interventions are rarely used, primarily due to the home’s caring approach. Staff are encouraged to use all available distraction or de-escalation techniques to prevent the need for physical intervention. When physical interventions are used, records are of high quality and they are reviewed and tracked by leaders and managers.

Findings from the inspection
Staff have access to a wide range of mandatory and additional training, which ensures that they care for children safely and consistently. Staff training is specific to the needs of the children living at the home.
