This monitoring visit
On 21 and 22 January 2025, inspectors carried out a full inspection at the children’s home. The inspectors judged the home to be inadequate as there were significant breaches in regulations relating to the leadership and management of the home. Although there was no child living at the home, the manager indicated that a child was due to move into the home within the next couple of days. At a case review on 23 January 2025, it was agreed that Ofsted would issue a notice to suspend the registration of this home.
p.1
This monitoring visit
This visit was carried out to monitor the provider’s compliance with the suspension notice, and to review the progress made by the provider in meeting the steps within the notice.

This monitoring visit
Since the full inspection, the shortfalls found have led the provider to take disciplinary action against staff. This means that some staff have been suspended from their duties. Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 2728057 2 The provider has taken steps to ensure that they are aware of the nature of relationships between staff. Staff have been provided with information about the provider’s policy on staff’s relationships with each other. This awareness will provide improved risk management for the provider when staff are in a relationship together. Furthermore, it will help prevent a closed culture developing at the home. The provider has also planned some additional support for staff to help them to gain an understanding about professional boundaries.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The provider has developed a more robust system of management oversight to ensure sufficient monitoring of incidents, including those where there is a need for physical intervention. Staff are also due to undertake refresher training sessions in relation to de-escalation skills and how to support children when they are in crisis.
p.2
This monitoring visit
The provider has updated the whistle-blowing policy, which has been sent to all staff members. Furthermore, staff are being provided with contact telephone numbers on their payslips as an interim measure. This will support those staff who may want to whistle-blow. In addition to this, the provider intends to engage staff in more discussions around whistle-blowing during themed supervision sessions.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Renovations in the home have not yet been fully completed, meaning it would be unsafe for a child to live in the home. However, the provider has made progress in renovating some areas of the home to a suitable standard.
p.2
This monitoring visit
