p.1

This monitoring visit

This inspection was to monitor progress against the compliance notice in relation to Regulation 13, the leadership and management standard, and a restriction of accommodation notice issued after the assurance inspection on 16 January 2025.

This monitoring visit

Since the assurance inspection, there has been a change in management within the home and the acting manager has now applied to be registered with Ofsted. A new deputy manager has been appointed, and staff have commented on how supported they feel with the current management arrangements.

p.1

This monitoring visit

The management team has produced an effective monitoring and staff development system to ensure that all the shortfalls identified at previous inspections and the assurance inspection have been rectified or are being worked towards. The use of the organisation’s computerised monitoring system is ensuring that there are no further gaps in staff training. Where there are areas for staff development, these have been acted on, with training or upskilling sourced for staff.

This monitoring visit

Joint working with the organisation’s behaviour support lead, the home’s manager and staff from a child’s school has meant that there is now a consistent approach to meeting this child’s needs. The strategies that are being used in school to help the Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 2687885 2 child when they are distressed and showing self-injurious behaviour are also being used consistently within the home. This has led to a significant reduction in incidents of serious self-injury for the child, as staff feel more confident in how to support them when they are distressed or upset. As a result of this joint working, staff now have specialist equipment to prevent injury should the child bang their head, and the sensory area has had padding installed on the walls, as suggested by school staff. Additionally, an occupational therapist referral has been made for further strategies

to modify the environment to help support the child when they are upset and distressed.

p.2

This monitoring visit

There are now suitable levels of staffing in the home to ensure that the child’s identified needs are well supported by two staff.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Links have been made with medical professionals to identify risk to a child who has allergies. The manager has been seeking clarification on known allergies and the impact these have on the child. Joint working with social workers and the health team has led to a referral for the child to have a full range of allergy tests alongside other tests and medical interventions they require. Staff are confident in understanding the child’s allergies and the importance of ensuring that these foods are not available to the child.

p.2

This monitoring visit

In addition to meeting all the areas identified in the compliance notice, the home’s manager has been working to ensure that the other requirements set at the assurance inspection have been met. Of the seven requirements made at the last inspection, six are deemed to have been met at this monitoring inspection. The repeated requirement has not been tested and will be reviewed at the next inspection. Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 2687885 3
