p.1

The provision is good

Staff offer children a safe, secure and inviting nursery. They warmly greet children and parents on arrival. Staff support children's well-being and emotional development effectively. Younger children listen and respond and wait their turn. Older children follow instructions and are helpful towards each other and staff. Children enjoy listening to stories that help them understand how to manage their emotions. They confidently speak up about how they are feeling and why. This helps support children's increasing vocabulary. The curriculum is ambitious and exciting. Staff plan well for children's stages of development and are skilled at supporting children with additional needs.

p.2

The provision is good

Children develop a sense of community as they help each other during everyday tasks. Staff encourage children to carry out tasks such as pouring their own drinks, dressing and undressing and helping to tidy away. Staff provide children with a variety of planned activities to help extend their learning and build on what they know. For example, during circle time, children gather together with their friends and build their social skills. They listen and respond to each other, waiting their turn and sharing ideas. Younger children are eager to show displays of their family photos, which help them see themselves as a valuable person.

need to do better?

n Leaders evaluate all areas of their own and staff's practice effectively, which helps them to improve how children are supported. However, there are some inconsistencies in how some staff implement adult-led play, which at times slightly hinders children in developing their own play and learning. n Children enjoy frequent outdoor play. They confidently take safe physical risks as they ride wheeled toys, balance, run and climb. Children play together as they sit on their pretend train and talk about their trip to Paris. They act out what they know and their world becomes a reality. n Children develop their small finger and hand skills well. For example, they mould and manipulate play dough, using different tools to shape the dough. Children hold pencils and make marks, paint holding paintbrushes and put together puzzle pieces. n Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) are supported
