p.1

Information about this inspection

 the care of children  the safety of children  the effectiveness of leaders and managers. The inspector has looked closely at the experiences and progress of children, using the social care common inspection framework. This assurance inspection was carried out under the Care Standards Act 2000 to assess the effectiveness of the service, how it meets the core functions of the service as set out in legislation, and to consider how well it complies with The Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and the ‘Guide to the Children’s Homes Regulations, including the quality standards’. Assurance inspection report for children’s home: 2732651 2

p.1

Findings from the inspection

We did not identify any serious or widespread concerns in relation to the care or protection of children at this assurance inspection.

p.2

Findings from the inspection

Since the last inspection, one child has moved out of the home and one child has moved into the home. Two children are currently living at the home.

p.2

Findings from the inspection

The manager has reflected on shortfalls identified at the previous inspection and has made improvements to the admission process, ensuring that a thorough assessment is conducted to give the manager confidence that children’s risks and support needs are well understood.

p.2

Findings from the inspection

Staff help children receive education in line with their academic ability. An education provider commended the staff for their commitment to one child, who they supported to attend school by sitting in the classroom with them.

p.2

Findings from the inspection

Safeguarding practice in the home ensures that the welfare and safety of children are prioritised. Safety plans set out clearly children’s new and emerging risks and direct staff on how to mitigate these.

p.2

Findings from the inspection

Staff say they feel supported. Team meetings and supervisions take place regularly. The manager uses these meetings to develop staff knowledge and embed a cohesive way of working across the team.

p.2

Findings from the inspection

Leaders and managers value partnership working. They ensure that significant incidents are shared with Ofsted in a timely manner, so that the regulator can independently review the effectiveness of safeguarding practice.

p.2

Findings from the inspection

Care planning arrangements for children leaving the home are not child focused. Leaders and managers have not been able to demonstrate that they have done all they could to make the child’s ending at the home positive. Assurance inspection report for children’s home: 2732651 3
