p.1
The provision is good
The experienced and qualified childminder provides children with good-quality learning opportunities. She carefully considers the learning environment she provides for children, both indoors and outdoors. Children are inspired to play, learn and develop in the stimulating playroom and garden. The childminder works closely with parents to ensure she has all appropriate information regarding children's unique needs and development. This means she can offer a broad curriculum and plan a good range of activities that reflect children's interests and individual needs. This also includes a variety of well-planned outings that support them to learn about the world around them and other people beyond their immediate experiences.

The provision is good
The nurturing childminder has high expectations for the children in her care, and they are at the centre of all the careful decisions that are made. The children are young and there is a strong focus on supporting their emotional and language development. The childminder puts great emphasis on settling children in her care as she is aware that happy children, who feel safe and secure, will learn well. Children have established close and trusting bonds with the childminder. For example, young children wake from their nap and are happy to see the childminder, who offers them cuddles and reassurance. She is a calm and positive role model and children receive lots of praise. Therefore, children's behaviour is good.

She introduces mathematical language during all activities and encourages children to count and sort objects by shape and size as they play. n The childminder ensures that children continually develop their language and vocabulary. She understands fully how children develop their communication skills and how to support these. She introduces and repeats new words as they play. Children thoroughly enjoy spontaneous, interactive singing sessions. They listen to and follow instructions as they giggle and move around the playroom dancing. n Parents receive regular updates and information about their children's progress and next steps in learning. In addition, ideas are shared about how parents can support their children's learning further at home. n Parents speak highly of all aspects of the care and learning provided by the childminder, who is passionate about her role. They say the childminder provides

Skills to be independent learners are strongly supported, and children make good attempts, under close supervision, to help chop and peel fruit. Children are encouraged to have fresh air and exercise daily. They relish time outdoors in the garden. They learn the importance of washing hands before eating and are fully supported as they transition from nappies to using the toilet. n Young children show a keen interest to try new things. They show curiosity and excitement using a water wall in the garden. They persevere and make good attempts as they scoop water and watch it flow, and they delight in the praise they receive for their achievements. However, the childminder does not provide enough opportunities for younger children to express high levels of creativity and imagination through activities or resources that promote their exploration.
