On 18 February 2025, Ofsted received concerns from police in relation to the provider’s response to situations where children are vulnerable to exploitation. At a case review on 20 February 2025, a decision was made to carry out a monitoring visit. p.1
This monitoring visit
Children have complex vulnerabilities, and plans are in place to reduce the related risks, which includes the risk of going missing and exploitation. The manager and staff are working with relevant professionals, including social workers, the missing- from-home coordinator and police, to strengthen safety planning. When children go Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: SC457430 2 missing from the home, staff respond quickly and in accordance with missing-from- home protocols. They search for children to try and locate them and return them home as soon as possible. Children are encouraged to make safer decisions and are welcomed home after they go missing. This could mean that important information is missed or that responses to children’s risk are not consistent.

The manager is working alongside other managers in the organisation to address shortfalls and to make improvements. Additional training has been arranged for the team to strengthen its knowledge and approach to safeguarding.
