Inspection report for supported accommodation provider - monitoring visit: Continuum Support Care Services Ltd 1 Continuum Support Care Services Ltd
p.1
Inspected under the social care common inspection framework
p.1
provider
This service is operated by a private provider in north west England. The provider can accommodate up to 12 individuals in self-contained units where the accommodation is for the sole use of one person.
p.1
provider
At the time of the visit, nine looked-after children aged 16 and 17 were accommodated.
p.1
provider
The service manager registered with Ofsted in May 2024.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Ofsted carried out this visit in response to safeguarding notifications received from the provider. The purpose of the visit was to ensure that children were being safeguarded and supported.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The registered service manager does not consistently manage the service in line with the statement of purpose. They accept children at the point of referral with complex support needs. This includes children who are known to be at high risk of child sexual exploitation and self-harm. This means that some children are not ready for supported accommodation at the point of referral.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Children with complex needs move directly into single-occupancy accommodation and they are supported by staff throughout the day and night. Some children receive this level of support several months after moving in, and with increased levels of staffing. This means that some children need continuous high levels of support. Inspection report for supported accommodation provider - monitoring visit: Continuum Support Care Services Ltd 2 The registered manager does not always ensure that children’s support plans include relevant information obtained at the point of referral. For example, one child’s risk assessment did not mention the child’s vulnerabilities as detailed in the local authority’s pathway plan. This included risks such as sexual exploitation, substance misuse and missing-from-home concerns.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Staff help children to develop skills to keep themselves safe and live independently. This work is generally well structured and supports children to make progress. For example, staff support children to learn how to avoid unhealthy relationships and improve their mental well-being. However, this approach is not consistent following serious incidents.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Children said that staff provide them with emotional support and help them to develop their independent living skills. They were able to describe the progress they had made while living in the supported accommodation.
