Type of provider: Independent learning provider

Address: Fairfield Business Park Green Road Penistone Barnsley S36 6FQ Monitoring visit: Premier Fleet Solutions, 5 March 2025

p.1

Context and focus of visit

The new provider monitoring visit of Premier Fleet Solutions Limited, carried out on 27 and 28 November 2024, found that leaders and managers had made insufficient progress in ensuring that effective safeguarding arrangements were in place.

p.2

Context and focus of visit

The focus of this monitoring visit was to evaluate the progress that leaders and managers have made in ensuring that effective safeguarding arrangements are now in place.

p.2

Reasonable progress

The designated safeguarding lead (DSL) has rewritten and strengthened the safeguarding and ‘Prevent’ duty policies and risk assessments. All staff have now completed safeguarding and ‘Prevent’ duty training. The safeguarding policy details the types of abuse that learners might face and sets out for staff the signs that could indicate whether a learner’s safety and well-being may be at risk. There is now a clear process in place for staff to report any concerns to the DSL.

p.2

Reasonable progress

The DSL ensures that learners receive safeguarding training, including about the risks associated with radicalisation and extremism, during their course induction. Most learners recall this training and know how to keep themselves and others safe. Staff provide training related to risks associated with careers in driving, such as human trafficking and how to stay safe as a lone worker.

p.2

Reasonable progress

Staff do not ensure that safeguarding issues related to local risks are taught in enough depth or frequently enough. Some members of staff do not feel confident enough to discuss these issues. Consequently, a few learners struggle to remember what they learned early in the course. Monitoring visit: Premier Fleet Solutions, 5 March 2025 regulates and inspects to achieve excellence in the care of children and young people, and in education and skills for learners of all ages. It regulates and inspects childcare and children’s social care, and inspects the Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service (Cafcass), schools, colleges, initial teacher training, further education and skills, adult and community learning, and education and training in prisons and other secure establishments. It assesses council children’s services, and inspects services for children looked after, safeguarding and child protection.
