p.1

Information about this inspection

 the care of children  the safety of children  the effectiveness of leaders and managers. Inspectors have looked closely at the experiences and progress of children, using the social care common inspection framework. This assurance inspection was carried out under The Care Standards Act 2000 to assess the effectiveness of the service, how it meets the core functions of the service as set out in legislation, and to consider how well it complies with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and the ‘Guide to the Children’s Homes Regulations, including the quality standards’. Assurance inspection report for children’s home: 2509367 2

p.1

Findings from the inspection

This inspection was carried out in response to specific concerns shared with Ofsted. The inspection included a review of documents, speaking to staff and relevant professionals. We did not identify any serious or widespread concerns in relation to the care or protection of children at this assurance inspection.

p.2

Findings from the inspection

There has been a period of instability with staff leaving their roles in the home since the last inspection. Leaders and managers understand the impact of employee turnover on the children and are trying to create stability to help the children to build positive relationships with the newly appointed staff.

p.2

Findings from the inspection

Detailed risk management plans identify the children’s risks and vulnerabilities. When risks to children have changed and staff can no longer keep children safe, leaders and managers work closely with local authorities to ensure that alternative care arrangements are made.

p.2

Findings from the inspection

When children have been held by the staff, this has been to prevent injury to themselves or others. Following such measures, the staff and children have the opportunity to talk about their experiences.

p.2

Findings from the inspection

The manager has not notified Ofsted of a serious incident relating to the safety and well-being of children and staff. This prevents the regulator from having oversight and assurances that the manager has taken appropriate action to keep children safe.

p.2

Findings from the inspection

Staff benefit from regular supervision and training. There is a wide range of training and bespoke sessions with the clinical team that equip staff to meet the individual and complex needs of children. Team meetings are held regularly and are used to share knowledge and learning. These systems help staff to develop the necessary skills to provide consistent care to children.

p.2

Findings from the inspection

The previous recommendation has not been met but the manager is working towards this. The recommendation is therefore reissued. Assurance inspection report for children’s home: 2509367 3
