p.1

The provision is good

The childminder has a caring manner that makes children feel welcome and happy in her home. She is in tune with their needs and understands their likes and dislikes. She has formed warm, loving bonds with them. This supports children's emotional well-being and self-esteem effectively. Children demonstrate that they feel safe and secure in the childminder's care.

p.2

The provision is good

The childminder is ambitious for all children, including those children with special educational needs and/or disabilities. She works with parents and other professionals so that all children make progress from their starting points. The childminder provides a language-rich curriculum that supports children to develop good communication skills. She uses opportunities to promote children's vocabulary well. For example, when children use cutters to make shapes in play dough, the childminder names their actions, such as saying 'push'. Children show positive attitudes to their learning and recall the new vocabulary in their play.

p.2

The provision is good

The childminder is kind and gentle, and this has a positive impact on children's attitudes to each other. Children behave well and have good listening skills. The childminder supports them to take turns and share their favourite toys with their friends.

n The childminder knows how to plan and deliver a broad, varied curriculum. There are lots of interesting activities and resources available for children to explore. Children confidently explore the environment and find resources that interest them. They develop their concentration as they immerse themselves in imaginative play with trains. n The childminder has suitable knowledge of how to assess children's progress at age two. She highlights their strengths and areas for future development. However, at times, the planned adult-led activities are not precisely adapted so that all children benefit from as much learning as possible from the teaching. n The childminder encourages children to be independent. She uses gentle encouragement to support children to manage tasks for themselves, such as putting on their shoes. Children can freely choose from a wide range of resources to play with. They are developing their own self-care skills as they

Children have plenty of opportunities to enjoy the fresh air outside in the garden. They practise their climbing skills as they use the slide with increasing confidence. Children demonstrate a clear sense of achievement as they successfully negotiate their way to the top. 'Did you see that? I did it!', they excitedly tell the childminder. n The childminder asks parents about children's routines, interests and abilities before they start. Written comments from parents show that the childminder has good partnerships with them. They comment on the good progress their children make in her care. Parents appreciate the meaningful feedback the childminder provides at the end of each day. n The childminder links with other local childminders to gain good practice ideas.

However, she has not fully explored further ways to share her acquired knowledge to strengthen partnerships with parents. For example, she currently does not provide information to help families and children deepen their understanding of the risks of the digital world around them.
