n The childminder does not fully understand her roles and responsibilities for meeting the requirements of the early years foundation stage. She does not have a secure knowledge and understanding of all statutory requirements. Children's safety is compromised and not assured. n The childminder is not aware of all the matters that must be notified to Ofsted and the related timescales. She has failed to notify Ofsted about an individual living at the premises. This means that the required suitability checks have not been completed by Ofsted. Although this individual does not work directly with the children, they are present in the house when childminding is taking place. This demonstrates the childminder's lack of understanding of her role and responsibilities to maintain children's welfare and safety. n The childminder does not demonstrate an understanding of how to identify and minimise risks to children. For example, she keeps cleaning products in a low-

level kitchen cupboard, despite the kitchen space being routinely used as a place where she carries out activities with children. This lack of understanding of how to keep children safe places children at risk of harm n The childminder does not use self-evaluation effectively to identify areas of her practice that may require improvement. As a result, her practice is weak and has a negative impact on children's safety. n The childminder discusses the opportunities she provides for the children linked to their current interests and what children need to learn next. She talks about the value of children making their own choices. She recognises that when some children have been at school, they are tired when in her care. Therefore, she provides a quiet area where children can relax and unwind. This supports children's emotional well-being. n The childminder talks confidently about how she provides activities and

resources that reflect the interests of children who attend the provision, such as baby dolls and resources linked to favourite television characters. This helps children to feel secure in her care. n The childminder, through discussion, explains how she uses appropriate, friendly and positive methods to help children understand expected behaviours, for instance good manners and mutual respect.
p.2
This provision does not meet requirements
There were no children in the early years age range present when this inspection took place. The findings in this report are based on evidence gathered from discussions with those who care for the children and an inspection of the premises, equipment and relevant documentation. Where there are no early years children present, no judgement is made on the quality of the early years provision as there is no reliable evidence on which to assess its impact on children. The report states whether the provider continues to meet the requirements of registration.
