p.1
The provision is outstanding
Children make excellent progress from their individual starting points during their time with this inspiring childminder. They are very well prepared for the next stage in their education and development, including preparing to start school. The well- qualified childminder sets high expectations for all those in their care through a systematic and imaginative curriculum for all aspects of children's learning. Children learn, for example, to concentrate for long periods as they develop their cutting skills with increasingly intricate snowflake designs or when they are peeling, slicing and coring a wide range of fruity snacks.
p.2
The provision is outstanding
Children learn to be happy, independent and confident communicators. For instance, two- and three-year-old children build strongly on their language skills as they investigate what happens to chalk when it is frozen in ice or explore the animals of the jungle and savannah through jigsaws and well-told stories. They accurately use words and phrases, such as 'carnivore', 'the lion's mane' and 'melting and thawing', as they respond to the childminder's consistently well- considered examples and questions.
p.2
The provision is outstanding
Children are safe and secure. They learn to share, take turns and be kind to each other. Parents are very appreciative of the purposeful guidance they receive to support children's development at home and their children's smooth transition to nursery and school.

need to do better?
n The childminder is highly ambitious to ensure that every child achieves their full potential before moving on to the next stage in their learning. She takes full advantage of her previous teaching experience, links with other professionals and current training opportunities, such as the National Professional Qualification for Early Years Leadership, to rigorously review and improve the learning opportunities children receive. n At the heart of children's learning is the rich development of their communication and language skills. The childminder carefully plans to introduce children to a rich vocabulary built on their interests and increasingly wide knowledge of the world. She helps children to think and reason through, for example, asking questions, such as 'I wonder why the chalk doesn't work anymore?' or 'Can you tell me what the differences between the lion and the tiger are?' n The childminder knows the children very well through her own observations and

13 January 2025 further ensure their consistent progress. n The childminder strongly encourages children's love of books and songs. She identifies a core range of songs, rhymes and books that motivate and engage children to develop their love of language and knowledge of the world. She makes very good use of puppets and role play, for instance, to bring the books to life. The childminder further broadens children's experiences through introducing them to songs and stories in different languages and cultural traditions. n The childminder supports children's physical development and well-being effectively. Children play outside in all weathers, learning to put on their own coats and boots in preparation. The childminder helps them progressively build a wide range of skills from rolling balls to throwing, catching, climbing and jumping. Children learn about managing their dental health and try different healthy foods through well-prepared and nutritious meals. The childminder

makes very good use of an extensive range of visits to soft-play centres, parks, farms and country houses to broaden children's physical development and other learning experiences. n Children's positive behaviour and attitudes are extremely well-promoted. The childminder is consistently mindful of the children's immediate personal and emotional needs and uses smiles and praise to reassure them and build relationships. She encourages children to say 'please' and 'thank you' as they play and learn. She takes every opportunity to help children understand individuality and diversity as, for example, they study snowflakes in the garden or the animals in their stories. n Parents are extremely proud to recommend the childminder. They value the strong relationship she establishes with their children and the very effective working partnership with themselves. They typically feel she has a deep understanding of their children and tailors learning to build their confidence and
