p.1

The provision is good

The childminder creates a homely and welcoming environment. She develops strong and trusting relationships with children. This makes children feel safe and secure. The childminder ensures that toys and equipment are easily accessible to children. This encourages them to make independent choices in their play. Children particularly enjoy exploring small-world toys, which enhance their creativity and imagination. The childminder provides effective praise and encouragement to children. For instance, when children count correctly, she claps her hands to celebrate their success. Children respond positively to this praise. This promotes children's self-esteem and confidence.

p.2

The provision is good

The childminder's curriculum is tailored to children's individual interests. For example, she knows children enjoy play dough, so she plans activities that incorporate this. This motivates children to engage in play effectively. The childminder interacts with children in a warm and engaging manner. This contributes to children's happiness. Children love listening to story books. They delight in the opportunity to turn the book pages and lift flaps to reveal hidden characters. This experience fosters children's love of books. The childminder communicates with children in a calm and sensitive manner. She is attentive to their needs and maintains clear behavioural boundaries. This helps promote children's positive behaviour.

need to do better?

n The childminder is an experienced practitioner. She has high expectations for all children and continues to be passionate about her work. This approach supports children to progress in their learning and development. n The childminder observes what children can do and decides what they need to learn next. Her curriculum currently focuses on developing children's confidence in speaking and socialising with others. Children, including bilingual learners, make notable progress from their starting points. n Parents consistently offer positive feedback about the childminder and her work. They describe her as 'very warm and caring' and note their children are 'very happy' in her care. Parents appreciate the childminder's effective communication, which keeps them well informed about their children's learning. This strong partnership ensures consistency in meeting children's educational and care needs. n Children love rhymes and nursery songs. They enjoy singing along and moving

their bodies to the rhythm. Their eagerness to sing more is clear when they tell the childminder, 'I want to do another one.' Children's enthusiasm shines through as they request to sing all the songs again. These learning experiences contribute positively to children's learning and well-being.

need to do better?

2 January 2025 n The childminder enhances children's understanding of inclusion. She creates opportunities for children to listen to nursery songs and numbers in other languages. This builds children's awareness of similarities and differences between people. n Children know the daily routines well. They listen and follow the childminder's expectations in the setting. For instance, children help clean and tidy-up toys. They show good behaviour. n The childminder follows consistent hygiene routines, such as handwashing. This helps to reduce the spread of germs and it protects children's health. The childminder provides varied and balanced meals. However, she does not always take advantage of opportunities to teach children about healthy eating and the impact of food on their bodies. This does not further promote children's healthy lifestyles. n As part of the curriculum, the childminder organises various trips in the local

community. For instance, she takes children to parks and playgroups to develop their social and physical skills. On these trips, children also learn about their environment, which promotes their understanding of the world around them. n The childminder completes mandatory training, such as safeguarding and first aid. This keeps her knowledge of how to protect children's safety up to date. However, her professional development plans are not focused precisely on raising her teaching skills to a higher level. n The childminder seeks the views of parents and other professionals to help evaluate the quality of the provision. Since the last inspection, she has reviewed the progress checks for children aged two years to ensure that their needs are identified accurately. The childminder is currently working to give children more time to respond during conversations. This aims to enhance children's language and thinking skills further.
