The provision is good
The childminder provides a safe and welcoming home-from-home environment. She is consistently kind and caring towards children, offering them reassuring words and cuddles. Children settle well and build affectionate bonds with the childminder. They show that they feel happy and secure in her company. The childminder has high expectations for children's behaviour. She teaches them to ask for help when needed and models the language they need to express themselves. This helps children to begin to moderate their actions. The childminder encourages children's efforts and recognises their achievements, which motivates them to do well. For example, children are keen to help to tidy up the toys after their play and enjoy the childminder's praise.

The provision is good
The childminder provides an ambitious curriculum, to prepare children for their next stages in learning. She supports them to be independent with their hygiene and personal care. This fosters children's self-esteem and sets them up well for starting school. The childminder uses children's interests to plan for their learning. Therefore, children are drawn to the activities and stay focused on their play for long periods. For instance, the childminder recognises that children love to play with dough. She introduces different resources, to sustain their interest and extend their learning. Children are highly motivated as they discover how to shape the dough using simple tools, such as rollers and cutters.

need to do better?
n The childminder has worked hard to develop her provision since the last inspection. She has completed additional training and sought help from other professionals. This has enabled her to develop the early years curriculum and raise the quality of education. The childminder describes how this has ignited her enthusiasm for learning. She intends to continue her professional development, to help maintain a consistently high standard of childcare. n The childminder provides a broad range of experiences, which promote all areas of children's learning. She monitors their progress and identifies where they need extra help. The childminder consults other professionals on how best to support children. She provides advice and support to help parents and carers continue children's learning at home, such as reading with them to enhance their language and literacy skills. This helps children to make good progress.

need to do better?
19 December 2024 encourages children to join in with stories, songs and conversations. The childminder has identified that some children need more help to understand routines and express themselves. She has considered how she can support children further, such as using a pictorial timetable to show them what will happen next. However, she does not consistently implement this support in practice. n Children thoroughly enjoy the varied and enjoyable activities provided by the childminder. These reflect their individual interests and foster their positive attitudes to learning. They develop their ideas and creativity as they paint, construct models and move to music. The childminder ensures that resources are stored at children's level, to help broaden the learning opportunities. However, she does not consider how to actively promote children's choices, particularly for those who need more support with their independence.

need to do better?
n The childminder helps children to experience healthy lifestyles. She provides nutritious meals and snacks, which encourage children to enjoy a healthy and varied diet. The childminder makes sure that children have access to daily exercise and outdoor play to support their physical health and well-being. Children learn that it is fun to be active. They are keen to join activities, such as action rhymes, which teach them to control and coordinate their movements. n Children go on daily outings with the childminder, which help them to learn about their community and the world around them. This includes visits to a local park, library and playgroup, where children meet and interact with a broader range of people. The childminder explains how this helps children to develop social skills and to learn about their similarities and differences to others.
