p.2
Findings from the inspection
Children have made good progress in their development since moving into the home. Staff support the children to develop positive, trusting relationships with them. This has encouraged children to engage in meaningful discussions relating to their identified needs and risks. Staff encourage the children to share their views and reflect on their feelings.
p.2
Findings from the inspection
Staff meet children’s health needs by encouraging and supporting them to attend health appointments. The manager has advocated for one child to access specialist mental health and bereavement services. The child has consistently attended appointments and has reflected with staff on the positive effect this has had on them.
p.2
Findings from the inspection
Children are accessing education, but not consistently. Staff are proactive in encouraging the children’s engagement in their education and promote learning and social activities at school and home. Staff support the children to have a routine to their day when they do not attend school, including getting involved in activities in the community and at home. The manager has developed positive working relationships with education providers. This supports a multi-agency approach to promoting children’s educational needs.
p.2
Findings from the inspection
Staff support the children to see their families and other people who are important to them. The manager and staff work with the children’s social workers to ensure that children are safe when visiting their families. For one child, staff have worked hard to develop a positive working relationship with the child’s family to encourage open communication between them and the staff. This has supported the child’s safety.
p.2
Findings from the inspection
Risk management plans are clear and relevant and reflect children’s individual risk factors. Staff update plans to reflect changes in the children’s needs and behaviours. Staff have a good understanding of children’s risks and understand how to follow safety plans when responding to incidents.
p.2
Findings from the inspection
The manager and staff ensure that incident reports are detailed and include all relevant information. The manager is proactive in sharing any safeguarding information with partner agencies to improve children’s safety.
p.2
Findings from the inspection
When children go missing from the home, staff follow children’s individual safety plans and missing protocols well. Staff have developed positive working relationships with one child’s family, which helps them to respond to missing-from-home incidents effectively. Assurance inspection report for children’s home: SC449954 3 The manager has followed due process in managing allegations and works in partnership with safeguarding professionals, including the local authority designated officer and children’s social workers.
p.2
Findings from the inspection
The manager has good oversight of the day-to-day care of the children. The manager records their review and reflection of incidents, assessments and plans. The manager has developed monitoring systems to embed reflective oversight and track children’s progress. These processes are in their infancy and the manager is in the process of developing them.
p.3
Findings from the inspection
Staff say they feel supported by managers and their colleagues and that the change of manager went smoothly for the staff team. Managers provide staff with regular, good-quality supervision.
