The provision is good

The childminder has developed close relationships with children and their families. Children are happy and enjoy all the comfort and cuddles that she offers throughout the day. This demonstrates that they feel safe and secure. The childminder greatly values the importance of teaching children to respect each other. She openly talks to children about the importance of listening to each other, waiting for their turn and showing kindness and compassion to their friends when they are upset.

The provision is good

The experienced childminder has clear assessment procedures in place. She keeps records for children that celebrate their successes and support her in planning for their next steps. The childminder knows children well and plans activities that are stimulating and age-appropriately challenging and paced. These activities hold children's interests for extended periods of time and address their developmental milestones.

p.2

The provision is good

The childminder uses a range of craft activities to embed learning for children. For example, children enjoy making a poster for the toilet to remind them of the importance of washing their hands. They learn about how our environment changes as we move through the different seasons by creating different images of changes to trees. These visual reminders allow children opportunities to continually revisit their new learning.

n Children enjoy the many opportunities they have to be creative and imaginative. For example, they enjoy self-selecting colours, sticking pictures and peeling the backs off stickers as they decorate their Christmas stockings. They role play familiar experiences to them, such as playing tea parties and office play. The childminder offers them encouragement but gives them the space they need to develop their imaginative skills. Her careful interactions with them during these times add to their play and learning and extend and challenge their thinking. n The childminder supports children's communication and language development well. She shares stories with them, asking questions to support their understanding. She supports them well as they recall past events that are special to them. She joins in with singing familiar songs they have learned and keeps conversations going as they play. However, opportunities for younger
