9 December 2024 well-being. She ensures that children benefit from plenty of fresh air and exercise. She offers a healthy menu and supports children's good hygiene practices. For example, children wash their hands appropriately, and the childminder discusses the importance of oral hygiene. n Children can make their own sandwiches and create their own play dough. This enhances their practical skills. This emphasis on independence supports their coordination, boosts their confidence and fosters a strong sense of accomplishment as they take ownership of these tasks. n The childminder seamlessly integrates mathematics into daily activities and routines. For instance, when making play dough, children carefully count 16 spoonfuls of flour into the bowl. They also notice sizes and use terms like 'bigger', 'smaller' and 'tall'.
