p.1

The provision is outstanding

Children thrive in the care of this inspirational childminder. They demonstrate strong, trusting relationships with her and with each other. New babies settle very quickly in the home-from-home environment. The childminder is exceptionally responsive to their needs and frequently offers reassuring cuddles. Children are highly motivated to learn and create their own games from the available resources. They demonstrate high levels of self-control as they persevere with activities and situations they find difficult. The childminder reassuringly encourages children to keep trying and talks them through the process to help them succeed where necessary. For instance, she provides clear instructions to toddlers to use a toy crane to pick up other toys. The childminder's interactions with children are of a consistently high quality, which supports them to make rapid progress across all areas of the curriculum.

p.2

The provision is outstanding

The childminder has created a purposeful, language-rich environment. She meticulously plans activities and outings based on gaps in children's learning and specific areas for development. She promotes children's talents and interests incredibly well. For example, she recognises when toddlers have talents linked to music and ensures that they are exposed to a wide variety of songs and nursery rhymes. She takes children to specialist music workshops and brings the methods and ideas they give her back into her setting. Very young children learn how sounds are made through vibrations. They frequently experiment with creating their own songs in their independent play based on the nursery rhymes they have learned with the childminder.

16 December 2024 n Children are excellent communicators. The childminder carefully considers in advance which new vocabulary she plans to teach children. They show exceptional skills in holding conversations with the childminder and their friends. n Children develop a deep love of books. They listen intently to a vast selection of carefully chosen books that support their development across the curriculum. Toddlers confidently join in with key words and phrases and enthusiastically follow instructions as part of stories that encourage them to take an active part. They demonstrate an excellent understanding of phrases, such as 'curling into a ball' or 'standing as tall as a tree'. n Children demonstrate consistently high levels of engagement. The childminder

The childminder frequently evaluates the effectiveness of how she can promote personal development and plans additional activities, such as visits to a local care home to meet with the elderly residents. Children learn about the careers of family members and take part in meaningful experiences linked to this. For instance, children learn about the role of marine biologists, including by visiting a local aquarium and finding out about specific plants and animals at the beach. n The childminder demonstrates excellent relationships with parents.
