p.1

This provision meets requirements

Children cheerfully arrive at the club and are happy to follow instructions that are well known. They independently put their things away and hang up their coats. Children are warmly welcomed by staff who record their attendance and ask about their day at school. The positive relationships between staff and children are evident. They provide children with good levels of comfort and reassurance when needed. For instance, when staff ask children about their day, they pull up a chair and listen to children's thoughts and feelings. These interactions help children to feel safe and secure in the club.

This provision meets requirements

Staff value children's views and opinions. The environment is carefully planned to meet the interests of all children. Staff ask children for their feedback on the service provided and the types of activities that they would like to take part in while at the club. Some children choose to go into the school hall and enjoy more physical activities, where staff also support children's creativity and imagination. They follow children's interest in the winter Olympics to create fun physical activities. Children thoroughly enjoy taking it in turns to pull along sleighs made from cardboard as they race across the hall.

p.2

This provision meets requirements

Staff gather information about children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). They use this information to provide continuity in children's care to ensure they are happy and settled in the club.

n Children are provided with a wide range of activities. Older children help themselves to games out of the cupboard. Children follow their own creative ideas for arts and craft, and enjoy making paper aeroplanes. Staff role model and give clear instruction on how to fold the paper correctly. Children show high levels on concentration and demonstrate a sense of achievement when their paper aeroplane flies. n Children enthusiastically use a pen to make marks on the interactive whiteboard. They work alongside each other in small groups as they continue what they have been learning at school. Children talk about the similarities and differences in their marks. This supports children to learn to work cooperatively and develop positive attitudes to learning. n The manager and staff build and maintain positive relationships with the staff at the school where they run the club. Messages are shared between staff. Staff

liaise with the children's parents and teachers. For example, staff implement the same strategies as at school to support children with SEND to build relationships and enjoy their time at the club.

need to do better?

Around and Holiday Club 5 December 2024 n Staff support children to develop an awareness of healthy lifestyles. At the beginning of each session, children choose what they would like to eat for their snack. Staff help children to understand the importance of good hygiene practices and the benefits of washing the germs off their hands before sitting down to have food. Staff remind children to stay well hydrated and have regular drinks of water throughout the session. n Children's independence is promoted throughout their time at the club. Staff have introduced activities into the daily routine. For example, children collect their own plate and drinks bottle and take it to the table to eat. Once they have finished, children wash their own pots in the sink. Children develop the confidence to use their skills and use their initiative. When their drinks bottle is empty, they use the tap to refill their own bottles.

p.2

need to do better?

n Parents speak positively about the club and are highly complementary about the staff. They say staff are amazing and their children enjoy spending time with them playing. Parents receive daily feedback and any messages from the school are shared. They state they are happy with the care their children receive. n Staff support children's understanding about the importance of keeping themselves safe. Children of all ages play well together and demonstrate respect towards their peers and staff. Younger children are supported to develop their understanding of how to behave appropriately. For example, when staff ask children to stop doing something, they explain why and how it might make them feel sad if they were to get hurt. Consequently, children are exceptionally well behaved and respect the rules and boundaries in place.
