p.1

The provision is good

The childminder creates a warm and homely environment where children feel happy and content. Their confidence in the childminder's home reflects this atmosphere. Children develop close relationships with her, which gives them a sense of safety and security. The childminder encourages children to lead their own learning and choose the resources that interest them most. She actively joins them in their play and offers suggestions and ideas when they are uncertain about what to do.

p.2

The provision is good

Children particularly enjoy engaging in various games, as well as dancing and singing to songs while using musical instruments. They demonstrate good behaviour and respond to the childminder in a caring manner. She supports their physical skills by providing numerous opportunities for them to do things independently. For example, they enjoy using a scoop to remove the seeds from a watermelon in preparation for snack time.

p.2

The provision is good

Children develop a sense of community through lots of visits to parks, playgroups and libraries. These experiences help to further enhance their language and social skills. The childminder supports their understanding of British values by discussing the importance of respecting different viewpoints and the importance of using good manners, and she gently reminds them to use 'please' and 'thank you' at appropriate times.

n The childminder takes the time to understand each child well. She recognises that their interests can help motivate them to learn. Using this knowledge, she provides activities that are fun and engaging for the children. The childminder tracks their progress and identifies any gaps in their learning, information she then incorporates into her planning. This approach allows children to build on their existing skills and make meaningful progress. n The childminder is experienced and provides high-quality care for children. She completes regular training, such as first aid and child protection, and enjoys attending online courses to keep her knowledge and skills up to date. She meets with other childminders in the local area and uses this opportunity to share ideas and gain even more knowledge. n The childminder actively listens to children and responds thoughtfully by explaining concepts and introducing new vocabulary. This practice helps build

27 November 2024 effectively. For example, she uses dice games to encourage them to count and introduces language such as, 'Which one is the biggest and which one is the smallest?' during activities. n The childminder has established strong relationships with parents, who frequently return to her with children's younger siblings, confident that their children are safe and well cared for. Parents commend her excellent communication skills and feel well informed about their child's progress. They appreciate the wide range of activities she offers and that she is happy and capable of managing any individual needs, such as dietary restrictions or allergies. n Children behave well and demonstrate their understanding of good manners by independently sharing their pretend toys while they play. The childminder acts as a positive role model, teaching children how to share and take turns. n Older children learn the skills they need in preparation for the next stage of their

learning. For example, the childminder teaches them how to use the toilet and put on their coats independently. To prepare them for early reading, she introduces them to phonics through fun games like 'Hide the Sound', where children enjoy running around to find the hidden sounds and delight in telling her which one they found, such as 'h for hat'. n Children learn how to keep themselves safe and can quickly explain what to do and where to go in the event of a fire. They are introduced to healthy lifestyle habits, such as eating nutritious fruit snacks. The childminder plans to grow vegetables with them to further encourage these good habits.
